Community Health Partnership is seeking a part-time (16-20 hours) onsite/in person Accounting Specialist to join our Finance team at our CHP office. The Accounting Specialist is instrumental in supporting the financial health of the organization and the overall efficiency of the finance department. Do you have a passion for crunching numbers, accurate data and record keeping, and enjoy general accounting and administrative work?   • Perfectionist. “Close enough” is not in your vocabulary! There is no substitution for accuracy, and you will comb through mounds of data until you have the satisfaction of knowing that the numbers perfectly align.
  • Organizing Wizard. Purging and consolidating are your favorite words. You have a crazy passion (maybe an obsession) for organizing, simplifying, and streamlining data, processes, files, and literally just about everything. Did someone say label maker?
What You Will Do
  • Enters financial data and transactions into the accounting system
  • Completes payments and controls expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices
  • Pays vendors by verifying federal id numbers, scheduling and preparing checks and other payments, and resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation
  • Regularly reconciles bank statements to ensure accuracy and investigates errors or discrepancies
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closes, including assigned journal entries, balance-sheet account reconciliations and accruals
  • Assists with the preparation and data collection for financial reports, tax documents, and external financial and grant audits
  • Processes credit card transactions, reconciles company credit card accounts and troubleshoots credit card issues with users.
  • Ensures compliance with accounting principles, financial regulations, grant requirements, and company policies
  • Provides general clerical and basic finance support including filing, document management, and data research
  • Collaborates with and assists the Director of Finance and the finance and grant management team
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, and/or a combination of formal education, training, and/or experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Two-Four years’ experience as an accountant, bookkeeper, accounting assistant, or similar position, preferably in a non-profit organization
  • Experience with non-profit financials, accounting principles, and grant management
  • Basic knowledge of accounting, general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
  • Experience with electronic accounting software, NetSuite, preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to produce accurate financial reporting and data
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and effectively and efficiently complete them under time constraints
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
