Job description

We are seeking a Controller to oversee the accounting and financial operations of a growing CPA firm. This individual will play a key role in managing internal accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, and operational processes while supporting firm leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the firm’s internal accounting operations and monthly close process
  • Prepare and review financial statements, budgets, and cash flow reports
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activity
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures
  • Coordinate with external vendors, banks, and advisors as needed
  • Assist partners with financial analysis, budgeting, and operational reporting
  • Supervise accounting and administrative staff
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and firm policies
  • Support process improvements and implementation of operational efficiencies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA license preferred
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within a CPA firm or professional services environment
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience managing accounting operations and month-end close
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and accounting software systems
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
