Job description

Bookkeeper – CPA Firm

We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our CPA firm and assist with maintaining and updating financial books and records for multiple clients.

Responsibilities

  • Record and maintain client financial transactions
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records
  • Process payroll and assist with payroll tax filings
  • Prepare and file sales tax returns
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Review and organize client financial documentation
  • Communicate with clients regarding bookkeeping requests, missing information, and account questions
  • Provide strong client service and maintain professional client relationships
  • Assist clients with accounting software questions and day-to-day bookkeeping support
  • Support accountants and CPAs during month-end, year-end, and tax preparation processes
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of client financial records
  • Perform additional administrative and accounting support tasks as needed

Qualifications

  • Prior bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred
  • Experience working in a CPA or accounting firm is a plus
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of payroll processing and sales tax filings
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple client accounts and deadlines
  • Strong communication and client service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Experience

  • QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop
  • Payroll processing and payroll tax filings
  • Sales tax preparation and filing

• Examples of written communication in connection with financial reporting will be required.
• Must be available to work the following hours:
o Regular Season Hours
 Standard office hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (1 hour lunch)
 Flexible start time: 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
 8 hour work day
o Tax Season Monday through Friday Hours (Jan – April)
 Standard office hours: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (1 hour lunch)
 Flexible start time: 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
 8 hour work day
o Tax Season Saturday Hours (Jan – April)
 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (compensatory time/pay provided)
