Duration 12 Month Position


Position Summary


The System Administrator is responsible for managing and leading the school’s IT architecture into a knowledge sharing system appropriate for a leading educational organization. The System Administrator will enhance the infrastructure of all IT systems the school has domain over. They should have the ability to develop and provide IT support, possess an understanding of computer hardware, instructional software, network infrastructures, and Saas systems. This position reports to the Operations Manager.


Essential Functions


The essential functions for the IT Helpdesk Technician are as follows:

  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of all technology architecture, including network, servers, workstations, connectivity, email, backup and information security
  • Interact with third-party IT vendors, including negotiating, contracting, and supervising all consultants and suppliers
  • Document and follow school Technology Plan, Use Policy, copyright laws and technology guidelines
  • Research new and emerging technologies, software and hardware solutions, and opportunities in keeping with the technology plan and school goals, providing this information to the Operations Manager, Principal, and administrative staff
  • Work with educators and support staff personnel to develop a shared IT strategy
  • Oversee vendors that implement email and school website
  • Ensure servers are maintained, maximizing bandwidth, connectivity, uptime and speed
  • Maintain support for computers, printers and peripherals
  • Maintain sonic walls and review access and daily logs
  • Chrome-book data management
  • Ensure support for standard network equipment (including routers, switches, access points, firewall, proxy, domain controllers, backup devices, modems, UPS)
  • Administrate email server and domain accounts, including distribution lists, mailboxes, storage, file permissions, etc.
  • Maintain hardware and software inventories including licensing and securing of software media
  • Develop and implement technology disaster recovery plan
  • Oversee information security, backups, and content filtering
  • Assist the Operations Manager and Principal in the development of the annual technology budget
  • Administer IT purchasing and asset management
  • Develop written instructions and procedures for the use of hardware and software as needed
  • Work with teachers and staff to facilitate and enhance the vision and goals of technology implementation
  • Consult with the Leadership Team to identify strengths and weaknesses of the technology integration effort
  • Monitor and document day-to-day project efforts and service calls until resolution
  • Maintain and update the school website
  • Assist with network administration, installation and user information
  • Work with leadership team to maintain a current technology plan for the school
  • Assess technology needs
  • Develop technology strategies for instructional and non-instructional areas
  • Be responsible for some social media content and website updates
  • Coordinate support for hardware, software, audiovisual, telephone system, and internet network
  • Maintain up-to date inventory records
  • Assume responsibility for networking, maintenance of hardware capabilities, and software updates with the school system
  • Maintain data backups
  • Provide technical services to school personnel (IT ticketing, emails, person-to-person, etc)
  • Repair equipment when appropriate
  • Ensure all is complete as required by laws, district policies, and school regulations
  • Participate in professional growth courses / seminars
  • Provide training to staff in the areas of computer use, programs, and other technical needs
  • Train and mentor IT Helpdesk Technician as necessary


Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Programming, Network Administration or equivalent required
  • Strong knowledge/specialized training and understanding of Azure, Google Workspace, Google Classroom, and Student Information System (SIS) platforms (i.e. SchoolTool/Power School)
  • A solid understanding of the Internet, Intranet technology, streaming video, video conference, website maintenance, multimedia systems
  • Experience with networking
  • Web solution design and implementation background
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development

The hiring process for this position will require you to perform a fingerprinted background check through the New York State TEACH System.
