Job purpose

This role involves compounding fragrance oils and preparing applications for internal use or client submissions.

Duties and responsibilities

• Mix raw material ingredients to form fragrance compounds.
• Create samples in applications such as candles, lotions, or other required bases.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Maintain appropriate raw material levels in your work area.
• Begin and finish all laboratory compounds in computer programs, as necessary.
• Maintain retains of all samples produced.
• Purge samples at the end of the year.
• Notify management of potential fallout/color issues pertaining to a formula.
• Assist in other areas of the lab, as necessary.

Education & Qualifications

• AS or BS in Chemistry or Biology a plus
• Attention to detail.
• Knowledge of proper laboratory procedures is strongly preferred.
• Strong documentation and organization skills.
• Strong mathematical aptitude.
• Professional written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to learn computer-based programs quickly is required.

Working conditions

• Typical laboratory station.
• Protective equipment required: hair net, beard cover (as needed), face mask (as needed), gloves, laboratory coat, safety glasses, hearing protection (as needed).

Physical requirements

• While performing duties of the job, the employee is occasionally required to stand (for extended periods), stoop, bend, walk, and use hands to handle objects, tools, and controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employees will be required to handle chemicals and solvents as required during job execution. Employees may be required to move or lift objects up to 25 lbs.
