Job Summary

Responsible for improving customer satisfaction for all food and dining services within the community. Supervise the operation and staff of the Dining room and community room within budgetary guidelines while maintain, or exceeding hospitality and service standards. Process all community room catering and events.

Shift/Hours:

Monday- Friday & Every Other Weekend: 11am-7pm

Competitive Hourly Wage- $20-$22 an hr.

Education / Experience:

  • Three (3) years' experience in food service and 1-year supervisory experience.
  • Two (2) years' experience in Restaurant industry/ Supervisory experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate with residents, supervisor and employees.
  • Ability to supervise dining room staff in a senior housing environment which meets or exceeds hospitality and service standards.
  • Ability to effectively supervise a diverse employee work group.
  • Restaurant Experience required.
ABILITY
  • Assist supervisor in planning, organizing, scheduling and coordinating all activities in the community dining room and community room.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the dining room to meet or exceed hospitality and service standards; meet/greet all residents and guests and assist them with any requests and suggestions.
  • Manage all community room functions including meal planning, menu selections, scheduling, supervising staff, planning, communicating, set-up and breakdown of room.
  • Supervise all service procedures, service timing, and pick-up procedures; manage clearing procedures in all dining areas for china, glass and tableware to minimize breakage and food waste.
  • Maintain dining areas so that they meet or exceed sanitation, facilities management and hospitality standards.
  • Communicate with food production staff regarding resident/guest attendance percentages and menu usage factors.
  • Evaluate food presentation and service (quality, quantity, temperature, appearance, etc.), for each meal.
  • Practice and observe all safety rules and regulations and encourage dining staff to do the same. Promote accident prevention awareness, programs, meetings and goals among dining staff.
  • Assist supervisor with any other reasonable task, as assigned.
  • Responsible for documenting labor hours and assisting with time card documentation and payroll.
  • Maintain daily and weekly meal usage records; assist supervisor in tracking and recording costs relating to dining services.
  • Responsible for food and beverage small ware inventory.
  • Supervise and assign duties for dining room staff.
  • Participate in the hiring, evaluation and termination of all dining room personnel.
  • Ensure that all dining room employees meet or exceed's standards of appearance; monitor sanitation, hygiene and health standards of food production personnel.
  • Create a motivating environment which encourages employee involvement, creativity, and problem-solving.
  • Responsible for the proper orientation and training of dining room employees so that they may perform their jobs duties in a manner which conveys hospitality and service standards.
  • Facilitate effective communications between food production employees and dining room staff employees as well as between personnel on various shifts.
  • Attend in-services as required.
  • Maintain and protect the confidentiality of resident information at all times.
  • Assures that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
  • Develops and maintains a good working rapport with interdepartmental personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to assure that food service can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
  • Serves meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
  • Serves meals as assigned on a timely basis.
  • Serves food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
  • Assists in daily and scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Delivers room tray(s) etc. to designated areas.
  • Cleans work areas, refrigerators, freezers, etc. as assigned.
  • Returns clean utensils to proper storage areas.
  • Picks-up room trays and returns to the kitchen as assigned.
  • Attends and participates in in-service education programs.
  • Prepares food, etc. in accordance with sanitary regulations, as well as our established policies and procedures.
  • Assures that safety regulations are followed at all times.
  • Follows established infection / exposure control and universal precautions policies and procedures when performing daily tasks.
  • Assures that the department is maintained in a clean and safe manner by assuring that necessary equipment and supplies are maintained to perform such duties / services.
  • Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment to the executive chef and or administration.
  • The community operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Department schedules must accommodate fluctuating business demands and employees may be asked to work shifts other than those they prefer or normally work.
  • Employees are required to comply with or department uniform and appearance standards, whichever is more specific.
  • Employees are expected to carry out all reasonable requests by Managers/Supervisors which the associate is capable of performing.
  • Performs other related duties as required, or as may be directed.
