SUMMER ICE CREAM MAKER

This role is hourly, 25+ hours a week starting at $23.00 an hour


Molly Moon’s Summer Ice Cream Makers are responsible for executing production tasks to keep our scoop shops fully stocked with ice creams and toppings, complete wholesale, and special orders, while meeting quality and food safety standards. They collaborate with their shop’s chef on a production plan for their shift then work independently to follow recipes and efficiently produce all the delicious treats required. This is high volume batch production in a fast-paced upbeat atmosphere where you are working on your own projects alongside chefs, other ice cream makers and our customer service and delivery teams. This role is an incredible and fun summer job that is perfect for those who thrive on multi-tasking and feel accomplished with every task checked off on the prep list. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Meet production efficiency and quality standards
  • Accurately follow recipes including scaling up or down appropriately for production needs
  • Taste all products made and assess flavor and texture – communicate appropriately any deviations from standard
  • Prepare ingredients and produce homemade bases, toppings, and inclusions such as hot fudge, lemon curd, cookie dough, caramel sauces, fruit compotes, baked items, etc.
  • perform repetitive tasks through entire shift while maintaining time management targets and adhering to ergonomic safety
  • Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
  • Ensure all areas of kitchen are clean and organized during your shift

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous professional kitchen, food production or culinary school experience preferred
  • Ability to measure ingredients accurately and perform basic kitchen math
  • Ability to work independently while also being a dedicated and collaborative team player
  • Strong time management skills and flexible attitude for changing plans to maximize productivity
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions with precision as well as give great attention to detail
  • Be 18 years old or older
  • Be available 20+ hours a week including weekdays and weekends as late as 11pm. Limited morning shifts are available.
  • Willingness to work in multiple locations strongly preferred
  • No planned absences longer than 4 days in a row, June 1st through August 31st. This includes scheduled shifts where you might be able to find coverage. (EG you could not take a 7 day vacation by getting 4 days off and covering 3 additional shifts.)
  • Ability to stand eight hours, lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly, and work in a freezer environment for up to 20 minutes at a time
  • Have access to a phone that can text and make calls
  • Have access to the internet to check email and view your schedule
  • Molly Moon’s is a tobacco free company—we do not hire tobacco users (smoke, vape, chew…etc.)
  • Washington state food handler’s permit required. This can be obtained after being hired but before your first day.

BENEFITS

    • Molly Moon’s pays 100% of premium for qualifying employees and their children.
    • A spouse may also be insured on company plan at the employee’s expense.
  • Paid Sick and Safe Time (PSST):
    • 16 hours front-loaded at time of hire
    • Additional PSST accrues at a rate of .30846/hr per hour worked in accordance with Seattle law
  • Paid vacation available after 6 months of employment
  • Four time and a half holidays per year
  • Supplemental paid family leave benefits for employees who qualify for and receive PFML. Molly Moon’s will pay the difference between the PFML benefit and 100% of an employee’s regular hourly earnings for the duration of your ESD approved leave up to a maximum of 18 weeks
  • 401k with employer match of 1% in the first year of participation, 2% year 2, and 3% year three. Employees are eligible after 6 consecutive months of employment
  • Subsidized ORCA passport available for $10/month or $75/month GoodtoGo stipend for mooncrew who commute to their home shop via toll road
  • Childcare subsidies toward the cost of childcare, day care, babysitting & after school programs:
    • up to $1,000 per month / per child for each child under the age of 5 (or pre-K)
    • up to $4,200 per year / per child for each child between the ages of 5-12
  • Up to $50 annual subsidized shoe stipend available for non-slip work shoes

  • While most ice cream maker positions are seasonal and end in September or October, a handful of ice cream makers work for molly moons through winter and spring. For ice cream makers who stay with us beyond summer career advancement possibilities exist in our growing company.
