Ice Cream Scooper Job Description

HANDEL'S HOMEMADE ICE CREAM is looking for Ice Cream Scoopers for our Anderson Mill location in Austin , TX.

Come join our rapidly growing family and be part of the tradition Alice Handel started in Youngstown Ohio back 1945. From making each batch fresh daily to using Alice Handel's original methods and recipes, we're still sharing our homemade ice cream and serving the communities we love so much one scoop at a time.

What we expect from TEAM MEMBERS

- Must be able to describe, talk about, and serve all menu items to guests. We offer 48 flavor options in stores but have 130+ recipes.

- Execute friendly, engaging, and genuine customer service during fast moving and busy service hours.

- Able to problem solve and find positive resolutions to challenging questions, requests, and/or interactions.

- Must be able to operate a cash register/credit card/point of sale touchscreen and have adequate cash handling skills.

- Standing, walking, and/or moving for prolonged periods of time with full use of the hands and wrists.

- Be able to lift and move at least 25 lbs. and perform cleaning/sanitation tasks according to statewide industry standards.

- Consistently arrive on-time to all scheduled shifts throughout the week and follow proper company protocol if unable to do so.

- Balanced sense of urgency while still being friendly, engaging, and navigating guests through the menu experience.

- Reliability. We are looking for people who strive to be part of a team environment where everyone holds themselves accountable. This enables us to focus on getting to know our guests better and have more fun engagement with them.

What you can expect from HANDEL'S HOMEMADE ICE CREAM

- Cash and credit card tip sharing with team members. Tips average between $2.00-6.00 per hour!!!

- Long lines. We usually have them and that is a good thing since our teams are fast paced and efficient. Plus, we love the conversations and tips our amazing guests give us :)

- Fun and comprehensive training...lots of ice cream eating, talking about flavors, and setting you up for success at the counter...

- Clearly defined job roles, duties, and on-shift expectations.

- We are open 7 days a week, Monday-Sunday from 11 am - 10 pm. Specific store hours will depend on store location and seasonal business. We do our best to balance opening, closing, and mid-shifts for all team members so that everyone has a blend of several different day parts.

-Honesty, fairness, and positivity. We are a fully transparent company and have open channels of communication and policies to make you the best team member you can possibly be. We will continue to do our best to set realistic expectations for staff and create a fun and positive company culture so guests feel welcome, loved, and come back to Handel's Homemade Ice Cream for generations to come.
