Occupational Summary: Booth & Associates, LLC is a consulting engineering firm that specializes in providing a full range of engineering, surveying, and project management services to the utility industry. We are currently looking for a qualified Engineering Technician for our Land Development Team who would be responsible for assisting with civil drawings, permitting, and occasional field work. This position will report to the Land Development Team Lead and will be full-time in the office. Incumbents are expected to perform a variety of tasks which provide experience and familiarity with engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs. The technician will need to be flexible with work assignments and eager to learn new tasks.

Requirements:

Position responsibilities include:

• Doing the following in conjunction with project team members: determining design criteria, compiling data, designing various facets of project for construction, and maintaining reference material for design.

• Preparing civil/grading plan sets and performing civil site design in AutoCAD Civil 3D. Civil site design includes, but is not limited to: grading design, access road design, and design of stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs) for electrical substations, solar farms, electric lines, and other utility infrastructure.

• Performing hydraulic/hydrologic calculations for erosion control and stormwater management design, preparing material and equipment specifications, and providing preliminary sketches and notes for drawings.

• Providing research assistance with all aspects of site design and specifications including zoning, erosion control, and stormwater management.

• Assisting in preparing project-related permit applications and reports.

• Daily use of various software (including, but not limited to): AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft (MS) Outlook, MS Teams, MS Excel, MS Word, and PDF software. Frequent use of HydroCAD, Google Earth, online GIS applications, and others.

• Performing duties in accordance with project budgets and company policies and procedures.

• Must be capable of: self-checking routine assignments, troubleshooting and resolving technical problems as they arise, and multitasking on several projects at once.

• Must have strong attention to detail.

• Must interface well with employees, customers, and clients at all levels. Must be prompt and responsive.

• Some field work as needed.

• Performing other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Two or more years of drafting/design experience required.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings is required.

• Experience with/working knowledge of Autodesk (AutoCAD & Civil 3D) is required. Experience with Esri ArcGIS is a plus.

• Associate’s Degree in Drafting, Design, Engineering, and/or Civil/Survey is preferred.

• Experience with civil/environmental design and hydrologic computations is a plus. Construction and field experience is a plus. Experience in a technical role is a plus.
