Location: Hickory, NC 28602 (80% Local/Regional Field Travel)
Duration: 6 Months (Contract)
Pay Rate: $27.70/hr on W2
Requirements: Valid U.S. Driver's License and willingness to work in outdoor environments.

Position Overview
We are seeking an Engineering Technician I to provide field data collection and engineering support for utility distribution design work. This role is highly dynamic, splitting time between the field and the office. Approximately 80% of your time will be spent traveling locally and regionally to collect field data, inspect sites, and perform post-construction reviews, while the remaining 20% will be spent in the office developing electrical design work packages.
Key Responsibilities
  • Field Data Collection: Travel to various local and regional sites to inspect infrastructure, capture measurements, and collect field data necessary for creating electrical design work packages.
  • Construction Support: Provide technical support during active construction phases and conduct post-construction field reviews to ensure compliance with engineering and client standards.
  • Outage Analysis: Assist in conducting basic root-cause analysis of electrical outages and propose engineering/design mitigation strategies.
  • Quality Control: Review incoming project scopes, evaluate site requirements, and deliver technical field notes to the QA/QC team efficiently and on schedule.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience: Strong foundational background or training in utility distribution design work.
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required (Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or a related discipline is highly preferred).
  • Logistics: Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license and have a reliable means of transportation for regional day travel.
  • Physical/Environmental: Ability and willingness to work comfortably in outdoor environments across varying weather conditions for field data collection.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous professional experience within the Power/Utilities industry.
