Senior Electrical Engineer
Job Description
The purpose of this job is to lead the engineering department in Chester, South Carolina. The plant will be a new greenfield plant, which is targeted to start up Q1-Q2 of 2025. This position will be part of the operational readiness team while the plant is being built and then lead the maintenance start-up, working with the rest of the management team. This position will report directly to the Plant Manager. Because this is a new greenfield plant that has not been built yet, the job description will be outlined in the following sections:

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide engineering support and project management for capital projects and major repair projects.
  • Create, maintain and keep current documentation and electronic versions of all electrical and schematics including panel layouts, PLC programs.
  • Provide expertise in PLC Control Systems and Programming in the development and troubleshooting of Electrical and Automation Control Systems.
  • Design circuit and layout drawings of control and power panels
  • Coordinate with engineering and shop personnel on existing machine control modifications to robotic and electrical systems.
  • Develop further knowledge and skills in the application of engineering principles, scientific analysis, and LEAN principles.
  • Assist in training the shop personnel and assisting them in checking or trouble shooting equipment as required.
  • Coordinate project installations with Maintenance and contractors.
  • Participate in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide the necessary solutions to eliminate root causes.
  • Inspecting electrical components during and after the product installation
Basic Job Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor of Science Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
  2. With a minimum of 12 years working experience in the Electrical Engineering field
  3. Experience in the design and operation of high-speed manufacturing and converting equipment.
  4. Ability to manage multiple projects and activities in parallel and drive them to achieve the intended results.
  5. Ability to discuss technical issues in a business environment.
  6. Knowledge of Siemens controls required.
  7. Knowledge/Experience with equipment used in the production of non-woven fiberglass-based materials or paper industry is a plus.
  8. Proficient in computer-aided design and drafting software
  9. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  10. Evaluating systems’ safety, reliability, and performance
  11. Ability to determine customer needs to develop project specifications and scope.
  12. Ability to interpret and implement specifications.
Appendix:
Below is a list of duties/job assignments that this position will be involved with during the build phase of this new greenfield fiberglass mat plant:
  1. Develop all electrical engineering standard operating procedures.
  2. Examine needs on new equipment, calculate costs and help prepare budgets.
  3. Designing and improving electrical products and systems
  4. Work with HSE manager to develop site specific safety and environmental procedures and training documents, i.e., LOTO, Confined Space, JHA’s, etc.
  5. Evaluating systems’ safety, reliability, and performance
  6. Create all preventive maintenance for all equipment to include checklists that support the PM’s and daily tasks.
  7. Develop all training documentation for engineering positions.
  8. Summarize data and report on test results.
  9. Be part of the building team connecting the maintenance documentation to the specific machine manufacturer recommendations, i.e., how to maintain the equipment, etc.
  10. Monitor maintenance and inspection plans.
  11. Design Maintenance department layout to include the storeroom.
This list is not meant to be a complete comprehensive list of everything that this position will be involved with but instead a general list of some of the maintenance process development work that will go into building the operational structure for this new greenfield mat plant.
