Job Description

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Reports To: Senior Process Manager

Location: HQ-Allentown PA

SCAI Manufacturing Engineers are responsible for improving industrial processes, production process design, operation and implementation. Successful Manufacturing Engineers possess the data analysis skills needed to identify issues and interpersonal skills needed to implement solutions both internally and externally and are able to recognize third and fourth order effects of a catalyst event. This position exists to improve industrial processes in order to maintain safety, improve efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability and maximize profitability.

Qualified candidates have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial, minimum of 3 years of experience in a Manufacturing Engineer role, are familiar with 5S, Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen and other lean manufacturing principles and enjoy solving complex problems, demonstrating innovation in continuous improvement projects, driving results and improving a function, team or area’s productivity.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Manufacturing Engineer role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous demonstrated experience in the manufacturing of a technical product.
  • Experience with 5S, Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen and other lean manufacturing principles / tools and willing to expand knowledge base.
  • Ability to create clear concise SOP’s for direct labor manufacturing personnel.
  • Accountable for all process documentation that is related to operations.
  • Familiar with ERP/MRP operating systems, bills of material, drawing structure, engineering change orders, routers, and cost reduction.
  • Able to conceptualize requirements and design / create drawings 3D CAD software.
  • Experience with design and implementation of manufacturing fixtures to improve assembly efficiencies.
  • Knowledge of process related standards in manufacturing.
  • Able to communicate effectively within all levels of the organization (particularly the manufacturing floor).
  • Accountable to develop safe processes and drive a safety first culture.
  • Proven critical thinking skills; ability to recognize third and fourth order effects of a catalyst event.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and a self-starter.
  • Able to deliver on time and eager for results.
  • Familiarity with refrigeration and thermodynamic cycles.
  • Familiarity with chemistry, electrical devises, and material sciences.
  • Experience with fabrication and assembly methods and equipment.
  • Able to pass a personal background check and/or clearance at time of hire and as required by Customers is required.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience (minimum of three to five years) with new product validation, including design for manufacturability is preferred.
  • Previous experience trouble shooting electrical assemblies is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with industrial controls (PLC / LabVIEW) is preferred.
  • Previous experience in the manufacturing of refrigeration or cryogenic equipment preferred, but not required.
  • Previous experience working with unionized labor is preferred but not required.
