Senior Applications Database Administrator

Position Summary

Job Responsibilities 

• Implement the information architecture and provide feedback on design patterns
• Work with and advise developers on database design and performance strategies and best practices
• Effectively troubleshoot and resolve application and user issues stemming from a database
• Contribute to the physical database design and build/implement databases in an AWS SaaS environment
• Automation with scripting – PowerShell, Python
• Proactively tune databases, including optimizing indexes and queries
• Experience with source control versioning tools is a must – Git/GitHub
• Experience with working in cloud environments such as AWS is preferred
• Monitor databases for performance issues and make configuration and resource changes as necessary
• Ability to maintain patches and upgrades on databases, including migration to new versions
• Maintain backup and recovery plans and procedures according to industry best practices
• Ensure security, access control and audits in accordance with HIPAA requirements
• All other job-related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications & Requirements  

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or another similar STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) discipline or equivalent work experience preferred.
• 5+ years of hands-on information services technical experience demonstrating progression from information analysis, data administration, database administration, and information architecture experience - in support of development, maintenance, and operational technical environments (teams).
• Willingness to learn additional information services roles, such as: ETL services and PowerBI.
  
• Superior technical acumen including solid knowledge of SQL Server 2017+ Enterprise Edition
• Ability to write, trace and tune queries using profilers, indexes, execution plans and statistics
• Experience working with database monitoring tools such Solar Winds, Idera, etc.
• Understanding of redundancy and High Availability patterns in SQL Server
• Ability to informally lead and teach others on data best practices
• Strong communications skills
• Ability to independently and with in a team setting with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated ability to proactively and confidently engage with stakeholders to gain an understanding of the business' evolving technical needs
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced, agile, and quickly changing business environment
• Interest in providing technical review and mentorship to team members

Preferred Qualifications

• SaaS and/or healthcare experience
  

Work Environment

• This role reports into Forcura’s Jacksonville, FL, offices.

Physical Demands of our Work Environment

This position is in an office environment and uses a computer and other office equipment needed to perform duties.  The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office.  Frequent interruptions may be encountered throughout the workday.
