Hiring Manager Job Title: Plant Supervisor

Job Summary

This position is responsible for safely operating a natural gas treating plant, including performing various job tasks within the same process and assisting in shutdown planning and maintenance. Plant facility processes can include gas treating operations, plant compression, dehydration equipment operation, control systems, injection systems, and other methods.

Primary Job Duties

 

  • Safe plant operation by planning, scheduling, and performing work, monitoring and adjusting operating parameters.
  • Coordinates with commercial and engineering teams providing input and ideas on projects related to gas acquisition opportunities and ongoing expansion projects.
  • Works with Operations, Engineering, Health and Safety, and Environmental Compliance and Permitting on design reviews, preconstruction items, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), and Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) to ensure facilities are constructed and operated per permit requirements.
  • Reviews and analyzes various operating data from Distributed Control System to monitor compliance with our air permits, and SPCC permits.
  • Performs other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization as directed.

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Monitoring in the operation of process equipment to blend, separate, and move natural gas and associated product; start, stop, and regulate pumps, compressors, and fans; turn valves and switches to regulate temperature, pressures, flow rates, and flow direction.
  • Make appropriate adjustments to dials, switches, valves, and levers in the control system to regulate and coordinate process variables (flow, temperature, pressure, vacuum, and chemicals) as specified; monitor controls to regulate temperature, pressure rate of flow, and tank levels according to process schedules; adjust control instruments, boilers, and dampers on burners in fired heaters to maintain specified firing conditions; communicate adjustments and changes to other operators and supervisors.
  • Inspect equipment, including heaters, treating units, lines, and pumps; inspect safety equipment as appropriate; communicate concerns and issues to supervisors and other departments.
  • Assist in preventive maintenance checks on running gear, making minor repairs when indicated.
  • Lubricate and clean equipment; determine repairs for scheduling; perform designated repairs and maintenance of equipment; adjust and maintain supplies of chemical additives that protect and clean process equipment.
  • Adhere to Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements and participate in program development and reviews.
  • Attend and actively participate in safety meetings and proactively support the plant safety program.
  • Understand facility regulatory requirements to operate the plant in compliance with requirements.
  • Operating natural gas-associated equipment such as reciprocating natural gas compressors, dehydrators, treating equipment, fluid separating equipment, valves, gas/liquid measurement equipment, pumps, etc. Operating the equipment and system may include, but is not limited to:
    • Start-up/shutdown of equipment
    • Monitoring and Adjusting plant control systems to maximize efficiency and operate all systems within acceptable equipment process recommendations or prescribed operating ranges
    • Inspect equipment and controls periodically to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment, or lubrication.
    • De-pressuring equipment and pipelines
    • Purging/pressurizing equipment and pipelines
    • Performing gas leakage surveys
    • Operating valves
  • Implements and adheres to safe work practices and a proactive safety culture while always ensuring safety for the employee, the public, and the environment.
  • Keep leadership and customers advised of any operational changes to the treater or equipment and any safety-related conditions.
  • Ensures applicable state and federal regulatory compliance and record-keeping requirements are met and continually monitored.
  • Performs minor and major equipment maintenance, including reciprocating natural gas compressors, dehydrators, fluid separating equipment, valves, pumps, etc.
  • Coordinate activities with third-party vendors.
  • Performs special projects and other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Competencies / Prerequisites

 

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years related experience is required; oil and gas processing experience preferred
  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Willing to work overtime and respond to callouts
  • Effective communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to build relationships
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Prefer candidate with knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) - OSHA CFR29 1910.110 and EPA Risk Management Program – 40 CFR 68.
  • Must have computer experience, with a preference for experience in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately both orally and in written format; must be able to prepare reports to convey information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, staff, customers, and the public.

Other Requirements

 

  • Use experience to recommend solutions to operational problems.
  • Recommend improvements in operational efficiency.
  • Emergency response: Provide incident command support to emergency responders, and lead mock and tabletop exercises.
  • Must be able to work and perform without close supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagram
  • Ability to work 12 – hour rotating shifts both days and nights as the role requires 24/7 responsibility
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 25lbs.
  • Ability to work in changing climate and conditions.

 

Physical Requirements

 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to work in close quarters and frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
