Kleinschmidt has a full-time opening for a Civil Design Engineer to develop designs and assist with permitting for multi-discipline projects in the Portland, OR area. Who You Are

A licensed Professional Engineer with a minimum of 6 years of experience in site design. A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is required. Prior experience with dam rehabilitation or removal, recreation facilities, stream restoration, wetland restoration, fish passage engineering, or local, state, and federal permitting is a plus.

Experienced: Fluent in the use of Autodesk Civil 3D software and national/regional CAD drawing standards. Experience with the development of technical specifications, cost estimates, and bid documents, site layouts, grading plans, cut/fill analyses, stormwater management plans, drainage and piping/utility design, soil erosion and sediment control plans, erosion/scour analyses, and bioengineering or hard armoring systems. Prior construction monitoring/review experience is preferred.

Relationship & Communication Focused: Ability to work effectively with clients and a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists while applying engineering skills from analysis and design throughout the life cycle of the project. The candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, and working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint. An interest in conducting presentations and preparing written reports is a plus.

Additional Requirements
  • Willing to become licensed in other states in which we perform engineering
  • Must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States and able to acquire authorization to work in Canada
  • Must be willing to travel and possess a valid driver's license

About the Position

In this position, the candidate will work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop designs and assist with permitting for dam removals, embankment dam repairs/improvements, fish passage and hatchery facilities, recreation facilities, renewable energy projects, and stream restorations.
