Job Description:

Disney Consumer Products is seeking a Product Designer that will be responsible for Accessories Jewelry, Timing and Vision categories in the development of product, lead licensees in the day-to-day development and managing OPA (Disney Online Product Approval system).

You will lead and design point of view boards, mood boards while using trend right research to ensure the trends are captured for creative roll out season. The Product Designer will also work closely with all members of the team and extended Accessories team. You will ensure we have the highest quality, consumer focused, trend-right product lines across licensing and create innovative products that capture the spirit and storytelling of our beloved characters.

The role is full time and will sit onsite in Glendale, CA reporting to the Mgr-Product Design.

Responsibilities/You will:

  • Work with approximately 10-20 licensees daily to review jewelry, timing, and vision products in OPA (Disney Online Product Approval system) adhering to the 10-day turnaround time.

  • Onboard new Licensees, DTR, halo partners in partnership with Sr. Manager and BPM team.

  • Collaborate with Sr. Managers and Design Managers to design and review a high volume of products and packaging.

  • Collaborate with internal partners (Creative Design, Licensing Commercialization, BERGs, CBM, Legal, Business Affairs, Product Integrity, Integrated Retail, BPM, D&I teams, Cultural Consultants) and external partners (Studios & Disney Channel Content Providers, Games, Pixar Team, Tim Burton Team, Muppets Teams, DTR Partners) to design and approve all products.

  • Research seasonal trends across all Accessories categories and layout trend right point of view presentation boards for creative rollouts.

  • Lead creative rollout meetings with licensees on priorities, new style guides, and seasonal accessory trends.

  • Develop and design digital product mock-ups, gather images, and layout creative presentations for internal projects and pitch decks.

  • Assist in pulling assets from internal digital media center for product collaborations.

  • Coordinate product and mockup samples and set-up and take-down of quarterly PD Lab show, BCU, Licensing Show, and other product displays.

  • Manage and organize all Pre-Production and Production samples.

  • Multi-task and prioritize multiple design projects within key deadlines.

  • Work closely with department interns and act as a mentor.

Required Qualifications/You will have:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in consumer product design/development or similar field

  • Extensive product design skills (e.g. 3D product design, technical design, sketching, creative application and manipulation of art, final mechanical art, fabric and trim identification, CAD sketches)

  • Knowledge and experience within Softline's categories (e.g. raw materials, silver smithing, plastic, textiles, print, pattern, graphic composition, manufacturing)

  • Strong computer software skills (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Keynote, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on products related to Accessories, Jewelry, Timing and Vision.

  • Experience with the full Lifecyle of a product all the way through product approvals

  • Exposure working with external Licensees, internal partners and external vendors for feedback, reviews, approvals and more.

  • Strong visual & written communication skills to provide clear, actionable feedback to our partners

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field (e.g. Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Product Design with an emphasis on products related to Jewelry, Timing and Vision) or equivalent work experience.

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $79,400.00 to $106,400.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
