Salary: $85,000 - $95,000 annually


360 Rail Services is a railroad Consulting and Construction firm providing Engineering, Maintenance, Construction, and Operations to various clients across the US. We serve a variety of industries including but not limited to Energy, Agriculture, Aggregate, and Transit. We are looking for individuals who are independent, self-driven, and desiring to work in a fast-paced environment for a creative and forward-thinking firm.


Job Summary:

We are hiring a Field Superintendent to oversee the daily construction activities at our work sites. They will be responsible for the overall progress of the project as well as the scheduling of workers and the delivery of equipment and materials. The Superintendent will help provide the best value and experience to our customers and employees in the current rail industry through continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities:


Safety

It is your responsibility to work safely and always oversee your work groups safety. Any accident, incident or injury is not acceptable at 360 Rail Services.

  • Each decision will be made by first determining if there is a safe way to accomplish our task.
  • JSA's will be done every time work is performed; even when it is not convenient.
  • All appropriate PPE will be worn and used per our Handbook and rules. Additional PPE can always be worn if deemed safe and necessary. This includes all requirements from customer facilities.
  • All incidents will be reported immediately to your supervisor and HSE manager and an incident form created in ProCore.
  • Any unsafe action will be stopped immediately and reported to a supervisor; everyone has stop work authority when it comes to safety.

Quality

360 Rail Services' goal is to perform top quality work at a value for our customers. All FRA regulations must be followed when appropriate, and customer requests and issues must be dealt with appropriately, promptly, and correctly. It is critical that we get quality right the first time on all jobs.

  • Projects will be executed with the highest regard to quality and customer satisfaction. This includes all safety standards (FRA) as well as customer expectations, in scope, being met.
  • Project scopes must be understood and communicated appropriately and completely for our forces to be successful.
  • Pictures of finished projects will be, at a minimum, put into ProCore with a sign off from the employee in charge of the work being performed to scope.
  • Punch lists will be created in ProCore for any issues identified, found, or presented to us by the customer. The list will then be managed and signed off on by someone on site as the items are completed.
  • Responsible for final inspection and overall quality of each project.

Financial

Protecting the company's finances and financial performance is critical to the success of 360 Rail Service and our ability to continue to provide world-class service to our customers.

  • Execute projects in the most cost-effective manner in a way which satisfies our project scope and customer.
  • Costs must be scrutinized and be competitive; get multiple quotes and consider multiple options when looking to procure materials and services.
  • Projects must be executed within budget provided without question. If this cannot be done, it must be communicated as soon as possible to identify alternate options.
  • Any additional work provided will be communicated and signed off on prior to doing the work. If a customer requests additional work, or additional work becomes necessary due to unforeseen circumstances, these changes must be approved by a manager and signed off on by the customer prior to start of the work.
  • All subcontractors and material vendors must be set up in ProCore with a current COI/W9 and any other documents needed by other departments to be successful. Any exceptions must be approved by your manager prior to work being done.
  • Daily Logs must be reviewed regularly (max weekly) and fixed to properly reflect work done. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Time - time must be accurate with what was worked as well as appropriately assigned to the correct cost code.
    • Equipment - equipment must be accounted for and identified whether it is 360 owned equipment or rental equipment.
    • Notes - a description of what was done for the day is critical as well as progress on the project.
    • Pictures - pictures are required of the work prior to beginning, during construction, and once the project is finished.

Planning/Communication

Planning is critical to the success of 360 Rail Services. While plans regularly change due to our environment, it's critical that we have a plan, and that plan is communicated appropriately to all involved, especially the employees.

  • All projects will be planned out and the plan finalized with enough advance to accomplish all needs and communicate to the teams involved. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Equipment rentals
    • Materials
    • Manpower
    • Equipment
    • Leadership that will be present
    • Scope defined
  • A planning meeting for the next week must take place by Thursday of the week prior to the project.
  • The ProCore project must be created and all subcontracts and POs for the project must be signed and approved the week prior to the project.
  • Responsible for coordinating with all subcontractors on the project and making sure work quality is up to standards and the job site is left clean.
  • Communication is key all team members.
  • Insure time, inspections, and daily logs are completed daily. This will support planning decisions.
  • Inspections include safety briefings, and equipment/vehicle inspections etc.

General Expectations

360's success depends on everyone working together as a team, communicating effectively, being flexible, and looking for opportunities to help the overall organization when possible.

  • 360 Leadership is expected to always conduct themselves in a professional manner to both customers, supervisors, peers, and employees.
  • Project leadership owns the project. The expectation is for leadership to be on site and supporting our workforce, identifying, and resolving issues, communicating progress, and ultimately pushing the project along safely and efficiently.
  • 360 has limited resources and no individual employee owns them. Resources will be shared among work groups, divisions, and various geographic locations.
  • Each employee has a responsibility to learn the critical components of their position. If you aren't sure of something, ask for direction and training.
  • 360 Equipment (pickups, credit cards, etc) are ONLY to be used for company business.
  • Travel is required when necessary. Field superintendents travel 70/20% of the time on average.
