About US: VDL Industries Gainesville LLC is company number 99 in the VDL Groep and the first manufacturing facility in the U.S. Operations are from a state-of-the-art, 150,000 square foot facility located in Flowery Branch, Georgia. The VDL Industries facility consists of the following work centers: laser cutting, metal forming, welding (MIG/TIG), electronic assembly/general assembly, sawing, drilling, shipping, storage opportunities, and Quality Control. VDL Industries utilizes a dedicated area for stainless steel welding and assembly operations.

Job Summary

The Production Supervisor will oversee, manage and lead the production shift employees under the guidance of the Operations Manager. The Production Supervisor should have strong managerial, administrative, and human relations skills to develop effective procedures to ensure the timely execution of production processes with accuracy and efficacy in a challenging environment.  

Education and Experience

• Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
• Prior supervisor experience of 3+ years in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor employees
• Trains, manages and leads production employees
• Oversees the daily workflow and assignments of the production shift
• Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations in conjunction with the Operations Manager
• Check production output according to specifications
• Prepares work schedules to ensure efficient operations in cooperation with Production Planner
• Maintains knowledge of processes and procedures
• Ensures that products are identified, weighed and accounted for correctly
• Troubleshoots issues that arise
• Notifies maintance department of equipment issues
• Ensures that employees comply with applicable safety regulations, policies, and procedures
• Oversee and approve timecards and coachings
• Resolve and report environmental risks or hazards in the workplace.
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Promote a clean, safe work environment throughout facility

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Thorough understanding of, or the ability to quickly learn production operations and machinery
• Knowledge of CNC machining (mill-turn)
• Know how of sheet metal production (laser cutting and press brake)
• Ability to read blueprints and structural welding prints.
• Basic understanding of welding codes AWS 1.1
• Excellent supervisory and leadership skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite or related software to complete reports and logs

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to walk the production facility continually
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time occasionally
