JOB TITLE: Finance: Financial Analyst

DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM: Finance

SUPERVISOR: Chief Financial Officer

PAY GRADE: 84

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SALARY RANGE: $50,050 – $85,176 (commensurate with education and experience)

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general direction of the Chief Financial Officer and working in collaboration with the Finance staff is responsible for analyzing financial statements, revenue and expenses to forecast the current and future performance of the agency to shape the Villa’s strategic planning. This may include forecasting future revenues and expenditures, as well as modeling agency structure and budgeting. The Analyst is responsible for keeping track of the Villa’s financial plan, analyzing the agency’s performance, alongside changes in programs and departments to create forecasts, and to calculate variances between those forecasts and actuals. It is the Analysts’ job to detect and explain the causes of these variances. Must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in a deadline-oriented workplace while effectively carrying out all job responsibilities with fidelity and accountability to the Agency’s Mission, Vision, Values, Guiding Principles and Strategic Plan.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepares and submits all Consolidated Fiscal Reports (CFRs), all Consolidated Budget Reports (CBRs), and all Standards of Payments Reports (SOPs). Addresses any related questions from OMH, OASES or other organizations pertaining to said reports.
  • Develops reporting structure in Blackbaud Financial Edge and Payroll System in cooperation with CFO, Accounting Manager, and Payroll Specialist to support standardized reporting of CFR’s, CBR’s and SOP’s.
  • Supports annual audit, single audit and CFR audits. Lead contact for CFR audits.
  • Applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to create or update financial statements
  • Analyzes financial data and assists in presenting financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assists in evaluating programs that receive deficit-related funding to ensure reporting accuracy and timely receipt of funds.
  • Report on financial performance by programs and departments and prepare for regular leadership reviews
  • Build relationships with Directors and managers, be able to explain the financials in an understandable way, and partner with programs to assist with creating annual budgets
  • Analyze past results, perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvements
  • Ensure grants and contracts are managed in compliance with all applicable standards at the local, state, federal, and public/private level. Assists with preparing billing and reporting on Grants
  • Maintain a strong financial analysis foundation creating forecasts and models
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, familiarity with data query/data management tools is extremely helpful
  • Conduct analysis and market research to support internal financial analysis
  • Makes recommendations and provides input on accounting software to create efficiency in reporting.
  • Demonstrates, promotes and practices cultural competency toward clients and staff through respect and understanding achieved through training and Agency cultural activities.
  • Assists management in the delivery of the Sanctuary model aligning operational areas with values of the model.
  • Proactively builds and supports effective working relationships with all Agency Program, funding agencies and Support functions including Finance Staff.
  • Ensures a visible presence among staff and is accessible, supportive and helpful to all levels of Finance and Agency staff.

POSITION SPECIFICS:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics), or 4 years or more relevant work experience in lieu of education
  • Strong analytical and data gathering skills
  • Financial modeling experience
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills

Experience:

  • 3-5+ years of business finance or other relevant experience
  • Prefer experience with development of CFR’s CBR’s and SSOP’s, including CFR audits.
  • Prefer experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge.

Skills:
