Job Summary:
Midwest Fence is seeking a skilled CAD Drafter/Detailer specialized in metal fabrication to join our design team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating detailed shop drawings, planning sets, and ensuring the accuracy of designs for custom fabricated fences, bridge railings, and miscellaneous metals. Utilizing AutoCAD and Bluebeam software, the successful candidate will contribute to all phases of the design process, from initial estimation to final verification of dimensions and materials in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and detail custom fence systems, bridge railings, and miscellaneous metal products using AutoCAD.
• Generate detailed shop drawings for fabrication purposes with minimal supervision, adhering to company CAD standards.
• Verify design accuracy through field measurements and material dimensioning.
• Collaborate with project teams to resolve design challenges and optimize fabrication processes.
• Recommend design improvements for cost efficiency and enhanced production timelines without compromising integrity or quality.
• Maintain an updated library of drawings and project documentation.

Qualifications:

• 2-4 years of professional experience in CAD drafting, particularly in metal fabrication.
• Technical school diploma or Associate's Degree in engineering, drafting, or a related field.
• Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Strong mathematical skills, particularly in geometry, algebra, and trigonometry, for accurate design and detailing.
• Ability to work well with other staff members and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
• Excellent organizational skills and self-motivation.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret plans and documents effectively in English. Bilingual skills in English and Polish are advantageous to facilitate team communication.

Language Skills:

• Proficient in reading and interpreting detailed construction plans, safety rules, and procedural manuals in English. Additional language skills in Polish are beneficial for team collaboration but not a primary requirement.

Work Environment and Physical Demands: This role operates in an office setting with a moderate noise level and requires regular use of hands for drafting and computer work. It may occasionally involve site visits for measurements and design verifications, necessitating mobility and the ability to transport up to 50 pounds of equipment or materials.
