Job Description

G-Sida General Services, located in Washington, D.C., is seeking a Facilities and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor focused on workforce management, including janitorial crew supervision. This role entails leading a landscape maintenance crew, ensuring productivity, safety, and quality while coordinating with contractors. Operating landscaping vehicles, supervising workflow, and meeting client expectations for site maintenance are key responsibilities. Additionally, the supervisor addresses facilities maintenance issues such as carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and systems management. They organize daily activities, monitor project timelines and budgets, and enforce compliance with building codes and safety standards. Providing guidance on challenging tasks, the supervisor collaborates with other supervisors, skilled workers, and facility members. Emphasizing efficient and safe maintenance operations, this role solely concentrates on managing the workforce while overseeing contractors to achieve exceptional service delivery, including janitorial crew supervision. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first contact in case of emergencies, accidents, incidents, or worker problems at the contract site, conducting initial investigations and reporting to Operations.
  • Supervise the entire landscaping/ground team at the contracted site location, driving around site locations to evaluate work being done.
  • Supervise janitorial staff, ensuring cleanliness, maintenance standards, and floor care protocols are met.
  • Maintain alertness to safety hazards and communicate effectively to ensure a prompt response from those around.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of required reports or records such as contact sheets, incident reports, accident reports, and workers' compensation forms.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, with additional duties as assigned.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry.
  • Oversee and assist the Property Manager with onsite tenant upfits and building improvement projects.
  • Coordinate and perform preventive maintenance on building equipment, documenting all testing and inspections.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of fire alarm panels and their operations.
  • Oversee and inspect work performed by outside contractors, ensuring quality and adherence to standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with tenants and vendors.
  • Respond to maintenance calls, including plumbing emergencies, equipment malfunctions, heating and cooling issues, electrical and lighting repairs, minor carpentry, and floor care needs.
  • Supervise maintenance workers, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, and floor surfaces.
  • Train employees in proper maintenance techniques, including floor care procedures, and monitor inventory of spare parts and cleaning supplies.
  • Maintain records of repairs made and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Plan, perform, and test all operations necessary for equipment assembly, modification, troubleshooting, repair, and rebuilding in food manufacturing settings.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Certified Pesticide Applicator is Preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and driving records check required.
  • Pre-employment complete criminal history background checks, ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance as required per the contract, and drug testing are mandatory.
  • Ensure completion and compliance with all administrative paperwork and procedures, including security measures, and perform duties in conformance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Availability to work on-call.
  • Spanish speaking is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce is a plus.
