GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:

At General Code, a Software Engineer is a full-stack development position. You will be developing and maintaining a number of internal software applications and customer facing applications. Projects will include back-end software development, web-based front-end development, and various automation tools used both for testing and deployment purposes. This is a small team environment where individual contribution, collaboration, and communication are critical for success.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OR TASKS PERFORMED:

• Develop and implement software and tools to increase efficiency in production operations
• Provide enhancement and maintenance support for existing applications
• Consult with Software Development Manager as needed to clarify project requirements, suggest improvements, and develop technical specifications
• Create and maintain documentation for development, troubleshooting, and training purposes.
• Provide estimates of efforts required to complete development task
• Rigorously follow company source control, QA testing, and project management processes
• Diagnose software system problems, both technical and business, and help provide appropriate solutions
• Understand the corporate goals, strategies, philosophy, and profitability objectives, and work within and toward those objectives
• Obtain and maintain a thorough knowledge of the business's products, production systems, and production tools

QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY COMPETENCIES:

• Software development experience using C#, ASPX, SQL, React/other modern JS framework, CSS, Java
• Demonstrated experience with agile, rapid prototyping, or any other iterative development process is a plus
• Organized thinking, with excellent problem-solving ability and a willingness to think "out of the box"
• Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple simultaneous tasks.
• Ability work with a variety of current and legacy development environments and technologies
• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• Effective written communication skills

This is an office environment with a moderate noise level. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand while reading and typing on a computer.
