Summary: The Hawaii Annuity & Pension Processor is responsible for processing annuity & pension applications and practices within the office. Will participate in reviewing applications, calculating pension amounts communicate with employers regarding employment information.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

· Assist in the maintenance of records of participant benefits, eligibility, and payment history.

· Handling member inquiries (i.e., eligibility, application status, contributions, pension payments, and annual pension and annuity statements)

· Process annuity plan distribution applications & pension applications in compliance with fund benefit rules, including collecting and verifying participant data, calculating contributions, and ensuring accurate record-keeping.

· Handle day-to-day annuity & pension administration tasks, such as responding to member inquiries, updating employee records, and processing pension benefit payments.

· Collaborate with internal teams, such as Accounting and Finance, to ensure accurate and timely transfer of data relevant to annuity funds & pension plans.

· Assist in the preparation and distribution of pension-related communications, including plan documents, benefit statements, and annual reports.

· Generate reports on membership statistics.

· Participate in annuity & pension audits, providing necessary documentation and information to auditors.

· Collaborate with external service providers, such as actuaries to ensure accurate reporting and administration of annuity & pension funds.

· General administration, coordination and communications with other plan professionals (i.e., accountant, auditor, attorney, actuary, benefit consultant) and the preparation of annual valuation reports, funding notices, SSA files for 5500s

· Preparing reports for trustee meetings

· Assisting with annual audits

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strict attention to detail.
  • Functional understanding of the Accounting process system.
  • PC proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook. knowledge preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong math, problem-solving and analytical skills required.
  • Must be able to follow directions, work with minimal supervision and interact with all departments and levels of management.
  • Knowledge of Union, Trust, Pension and Benefits Industry preferred.
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Professionalism and respect for co-workers at all times.

Education and/or Experience: Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 2 to four years related experience in a fast-paced accounting environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

 

 

Language Skills: Ability to read, speak, and write effectively in English. Ability to interpret documents such as plan documents, memos, letters, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, meeting notes, project documentation, and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of organization. Ability to effectively address or resolve customer service issues within guidelines of the position.

 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and commissions.

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized or non-standardized situations.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid, class C license in state working with no adverse driving record.
