Overview

Grounded Strategies is a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit organization working with communities to restore vacant and neglected land. We are seeking a Project Manager to support neighborhood-scale program initiatives and projects related to Grounded's vacant land stewardship policy and systems-change work, including:

  • Environmental justice and vacant land remediation benchmarking/best practices research;
  • Community-scale land restoration pilot planning and execution;
  • Strategic partner engagement; and
  • Report writing, advocacy, and public education activities.

In its broadest sense, stewardship is the recognition of our collective responsibility to maintain the quality and abundance of our land, air, water, and biodiversity, and to manage this natural capital in a way that conserves all of its values, be they environmental, economic, social, or cultural. As it relates to vacant land in the Pittsburgh region, strong stewardship is needed to sustain investments long-term to prevent the cycle of disinvestment from returning to a community. Grounded supports resident-leaders who are taking an active role in stewarding vacant land. This work may range from community cleanups, site refreshes, ongoing and consistent maintenance, and caretaking of the surrounding environment. This work is strongest when done together.

The Resident Resources Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of particular projects while understanding how they fit into overall program objectives. This role will directly oversee the implementation of the CommunityCare Programs (all cohorts), Lots to Love Programming (PGH Mobile Toolbox, Lots to Love Online, Land Doctor, Refresh Fund), and Volunteer Management.
