Sales Counter Representative for Seals and O-Rings

Summary: We are seeking a motivated Sales Counter Representative to join our team, specializing in seals and O-rings. The ideal candidate will excel in providing exceptional customer service while handling walk-in customers and counter sales at our store location. Proficiency in using measuring devices such as tape measures, cones, slides, and calipers is essential for this role. Additionally, responsibilities include managing shipping and receiving functions, processing orders, coordinating with other departments, and maintaining inventory accuracy.

Responsibilities:

1. Handle walk-in customers and counter sales with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service.
2. Process orders, make quotations on standard items, and relay pertinent information to customers.
3. Coordinate with other departments to handle purchase orders and provide value-added services to customers.
4. Receive requests for product selection, price quotations, purchase orders, order changes, adjustments, and cancellations directly from customers.
5. Achieve and maintain rapport with customers, ensuring the provision of the best possible customer service.
6. Utilize software to retrieve customer information, stock status information, purchase order status, and make changes to customer purchase orders.
7. Use correct sales category and location information for new inventory item setup.
8. Perform regular "cycle counting" of stock inventory and assist in physical counts of inventory.
9. Frequently research part numbers and specifications in company and vendor catalogs.
10. Operate the retail counter by handling walk-in cash, credit card sales, and customer accounts.
11. Check-in merchandise and verify incoming materials against the packing list to ensure accuracy.
12. Look up and compute inbound freight costs to be added to customer orders in the software system.
13. Assemble customer orders according to the packing list by pulling parts from warehouse shelving and placing them in the appropriate area for customer pickup.
14. Quality check orders to ensure correct items are processed and package customer orders in the best way possible to prevent damage or loss during delivery.
15. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including maintaining aisle ways, keeping warehouse stock neat and orderly, and removing trash and recycling to the appropriate dumpster.

Requirements:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Previous experience in retail sales, customer service, or warehouse operations preferred.
3. Knowledge of seals, O-rings, or related products is a plus.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
6. Proficiency in using measuring devices such as tape measures, cones, slides, and calipers.
7. Basic math skills for processing sales transactions and measuring products accurately.
8. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
9. Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
10. Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
