Bilingual Night Shift Training Coordinator

The ideal candidate should have the following attributes and/or skills:

  • Experience in Education, Training, or related field to the training subject or equivalent work experience and a minimum of high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Fluent on English and Spanish (Bilingual).
  • Strong Communication Skills-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent written communication and editing skills.
  • Intellectual Skills-Solid ability to understand and assess processes requests and needs and to identify pertinent information and create documents that present the relevant information clearly and succinctly.
  • Organizational Skills-Ability to meet demanding timelines and flexibility to accommodate the "unplanned".
  • Results-Oriented-Self-starter, with an enthusiastic and proactive style; comfortable with a driven deadline environment.
  • Proficiency with traditional and modern job training methods and techniques, including on-the-job training coaching and mentoring.
  • Proven ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate).
  • Proficient with the use of a computer and including aspects of Excel, Power point, MS word and Outlook.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple activities.
  • Expertise in production processes (Injection Molding, Paint shop, Exterior and interior assembly).
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and knowledge transfer skills.
  • Know the basics of the 4 steps skills training method and standardized work.
  • Authoring Technologies- knowledge of authoring technologies, intranet design tools, and multimedia applications. This is a plus.

Objective of the Position

  • Train all the new team members (Temporary and direct hires) on the DOJO training process on different shifts. Create and optimize DOJO training material as well as develop and continually improve the orientation program provided in the DOJO training.
  • Develop evaluations and Assessments according to SMP requirements. Manage assessment records for all team members completing the DOJO training. Create fast tracks and assign trainees to the right area according to the identified basic skills.
  • Implement and maintain the on-the-job training process and adjust the current ones in a close cooperation with the line management to improve individual and organizational performance in safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Provide with a full shopfloor training and learning experience to all new team members by leading the OJT training for all SMP employees to improve production process in key manufacturing principles that includes safety, 5s, hard and soft skills.
  • Maintain employee system and qualification matrix tracking according to production training needs, performance, or customer requirements.
  • Maintain and provide continues training on the shopfloor working with line leaders to make sure the employee multi-skill system is followed and updated.

Main Duties

  • Design, plan, organize, and conduct direct orientation and DOJO training with ethics and professionalism for new temporary and SMP employees. Develop and continually improve the training DOJO areas and program.
  • Work directly with the DOJO trainer to take over the new team members that will be assigned to the defined work zone.
  • Adjust the current training programs in close cooperation with the OJT trainer to improve individual and organizational performance in safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Conduct the employee training (English or Spanish as needed) for all SMP employees focusing on production process in key manufacturing principles that includes Motherson Philosophy, Safety, Quality, and lean basics manufacturing basics (5S, 8 wastes, etc.)
  • Develop and conduct continually assessments during the DOJO training.
  • Create a fast track for all team members according to their basic skills, behaviors, and performance.
  • Maintain the training records for all the team members starting, going through, and completing the DOJO training. Document with all corporate and internal forms.
  • Maintain all the assessment records for all the team members that have been assessed during the DOJO training.
  • Provide reports on specific KPIs tracked for training, for example training hours, compliance to the DOJO training and DOJO training throughput and DOJO training scores.
  • Handover DOJO trainees to the designated OJT trainer after completion of the training time on the DOJO area.
  • Provide team members with the right PPE, shirts, and trainee arm bands.
  • Perform shopfloor plant tour to all new team members on the IM, Paint-shop, and Assembly.
  • According to the DOJO assessment and the Zones training needs, assign team members to their specific zone.
  • Introduce team members to the line leaders and support areas.
  • Deliver shopfloor training and train (in English or Spanish as needed) team members on the assigned training station, following the 4-steps skills training method.
  • Designate support team members and check on the learner’s progress periodically.
  • Keep records of performance, attendance, and work ethics for all team members during the OJT training.
  • Prepare, use, and maintain assessments for trainees on the production zones.
  • Identify and assess training needs and training gaps in the work zones, interviews with employees, focus groups, areas KPI’s performance and/or in close cooperation with zone leaders.
  • Create training plans, Schedule, and perform continuous OJT trainings to SMP team members assigned to the defined work zone.
  • Create training Plans and schedule training with line leaders on the production areas to assure the certification and annual recertification of the skill matrix of all employees in the production areas to get minimum level 3 (includes logistics).
  • Keep updated the skill matrix and follow the multi-skills process in compliance with the SMP Quality System, IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3 Audits.
  • Offer and manage specific on the job training sessions to help workers maintain or improve job skills for new hires as well as veteran employees.
  • Generate individual format to provide the certification after OJT training completion and successfully pass the evaluation criteria.
  • Provide the OJT training certification to the DOJO trainer for each assigned trainee.
  • Keep and maintain the training records for each level of the qualification matrix.
  • Keep the training matrixes updated on each production area.
  • Be a support on the continues improvement process of standardized work.
  • Train in different shifts to cover the same level of skills and mentoring process in different productive areas.
  • Develop, manage, and update training material in both English and Spanish.
  • Select, develop, and execute appropriate training methods or activities using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as presentations, role playing, simulations, team exercises, and group discussions, videos, mentoring, on-the job training activities or lectures.
  • Provide necessary information about training sessions such as: training manuals, materials, handouts, evaluations, evaluation results and attendance records.
  • Schedule own trainings and other department trainings based on availability of classrooms, equipment, or instructors.
  • Manage and maintain in-house training facilities, DOJO area and equipment per shift.
  • Train in different shifts to cover the same level of skills and mentoring process in different productive areas.
  • Collect evaluations from OJT trainers for all team members and compile on the final DOJO and OJT training report for new hires (Temporary and direct hires)
  • Deliver training according to company training needs.
