Engineering Supervisor

Cadillac Products Automotive Company (CPAC) is looking for an Engineering Supervisor to lead our team of Process Technicians at our Troy production Facility.This role reports to our VP of Operations, who is currently acting as interim Plant Manager at this facility.Our Troy production plant is growing, continuing to get more business since opening 7 years ago.

What this role looks like:

We have several process technicians at the Troy facility, and the Engineering Supervisor will be responsible to supervise this team of skilled individuals. The Process Technicians each troubleshoot, calibrate, and assist in proper machine setup and adjustments throughout all plant machinery. This is hands-on, technical engineering work by skilled technicians. There is at least one Process Technician on each shift.

The majority of the problems that come up are on the mechanical side.However, we are a bit lacking in PLCs and Robotics troubleshooting skills at this facility. So while those issues are less frequent, they are a critical issue to be resolved when they do come up.We need someone who knows enough to help our techs troubleshoot Ladder Logic and Controls, but not necessarily to program them.

While the Process Techs youll supervise have a role that is 90% reactive, the Engineering Supervisor role is more 50/50 in terms of the split between reactive issue resolution and long term solution implementation.You will have plenty of projects and implementation initiatives to manage over time, while also fielding escalations from the Process Technicians whenever they get stuck. This is NOT maintenance work.You and your team will be working with Maintenance frequently, but the Engineering Supervisor specifically work as an escalation point for the Process Techs. The Process Technician team gets involved anytime products are not meeting quality standards.

This role is going to be 80% Technical, 20% management. We need someone who is a Power problem solver, who can help the Process Techs overcome any challenge they get stuck on.

• Schedule for this job:
• On Day Shift, 7-4:30 or so, 5 days/week.
• Must be open to be somewhat flexible, sometimes come into off shifts when occasionally needed
• Plant is running a 5 day production schedule, currently 2 shifts per day, soon to be 3

The Ideal Candidate for the Engineering Supervisor role:

• Has Large scale, manufacturing, production-level experience (not just R&D, prototyping, or design work)
• Specifically experienced with manufacturing& production Troubleshooting and technical issue escalation
• 2-3 years of full-time, Process Engineering work at minimum
• Working in quality, doing process standardization
• More like 5-7 years is preferred
• Supervisory experience not necessarily required, but you must be someone who WANTS to grow into that
• Bachelors Degree in a related Engineering Field Mechanical, Industrial, or any other relevant Major

Technical details our Process Technician team is dealing with:

• Lots of classic machinery components - hydraulics, servos, drives, motors, robotics (Fanuc)
• Inline Thermoforming machines
• Producing wheel arch liners, for example
• Multiple Water-Jet cells
• Rotary machines to heat and form materials
• Material production done in our microwave oven

Other Responsibilities:

• Software: Youll be using Plex (our ERP) to manage maintenance work orders.The rest of the job is primarily the classic Microsoft suite you would expect (outlook for email, plenty of excel sheets).
• Owning Documentation:
• Making sure the proper documentation is completed
• Getting plant floor plans and other similar documents up to date, for example
• Troubleshooting, but also being process focused.
• Quality implementation, process standardization.

Compensation:

• The budgeted salary is around $80-90k
• Plus annual bonus opportunity of 10-15% of base pay
