Roland Park Place, Baltimore’s premier upscale senior living community, is seeking an experienced Bistro Manager with a minimum of 3 years of experience in Bistro/Cafe Management or equivalent roles to lead our front-of-house team in our fine-dining restaurant, upscale casual Bistro, and Coffee Shop.

We are not a nursing home or typical retirement community. Compensation: $55,000 - $60,000 annually depending on experience.

Schedule: hours and days vary. No late nights, you're home by 9:00 PM!


What you will be doing:

  • Oversees operations following all federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines for food service facilities regarding sanitation, maintenance, and safety. Assists in supervision of all other department areas.
  • Hires, trains, supervises, schedules, evaluates, disciplines, and coaches staff on proper set-up, clean-up, food safety, HACCP, and customer service techniques.
  • Maintains a presence in Bistro/Coffee Bar areas during service hours, observing employee performance, coaching to enhance staff skill sets, addressing customer concerns in a timely manner and documenting information in order to provide a resource for corrective actions.
  • Plans and conducts mandatory monthly training sessions with staff in all areas of oversight.
  • Prepares bi-weekly schedules for Bistro and Coffee Bar, ensuring adequate staffing levels are in place to provide effective service.
  • Assure that each evening the Bistro is shut down corectly and opened each morning, using appropriate checklists.
  • Serves as the gatekeeper for the Matrix Software System, ensuring the POS system is up-to-date and functioning at its peak performance.
  • Front focused at all times, catering to the needs of the Residents and making sure food quality is at it's highest, observation at Meal times for accuracy and abundance.
  • Payroll and Cash Deposit Responsibilities.

What we are looking for:

  • Excellent problem-solving/judgment skills, and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • At least Three (3) years of management experience in a full-service, upscale CCRC Dining program, or Country Club dining setting.
  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills.
  • Ability to work hours necessary to meet the demands of the job.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Strong training capabilities.
