Job Description

Responsible for safeguarding the company’s assets and for the safety of guests and employees. Observes, monitors, and records activities occurring in the casino area and throughout the facility, recording observations as required. Responsible for the supervision of monitor room staff, assistance with performance appraisals, training of surveillance personnel, maintaining logs, reviewing and storing of video clips.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyzes recorded and live surveillance video of property-wide activities to detect any suspicious activity, violations of gaming activity including cheating at play, or suspicious financial transactions, which may pose a risk to employees, vendors, guests, The Rose Gaming Resort operations.
  • Accountable for conducting observations and writing detailed and accurate reports, as well as data entry while maintaining confidentiality of Surveillance department.
  • Responsible for multitasking between telephone calls and radio communications traffic, collecting information and logging pertinent information utilizing surveillance software in a fast-paced environment.
  • Works closely and maintains excellent communication with Casino operations and management to gather pertinent information and investigate criminal activity, injuries or illness claims/reports and safety risks.
  • Performs department audits to ensure regulatory compliance pertaining to financial transactions, morning audit drops or count room procedures, table games play, and food and beverage health and safety codes.
  • Maintains working knowledge of The Rose Gaming Resort internal controls, casino policies and procedures, federal and state gaming regulations, Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) and U.S. Bank Secrecy Act as it relates to Title 31 and Suspicious Activity Reports pertaining to Casino activities.
  • Performs camera checks and inputs technical surveillance work orders or malfunction forms and reports any other problems pertaining to surveillance equipment.
  • Effectively and efficiently reviews all cameras as well as recording decks to analyze video and determine the validity of reports and investigative reviews.
  • Submits written reports specifying investigative results as well as reports indicating occurrences where company procedures are broken or altered.
  • Maintains a daily log describing incidences/occurrences to keep other management personnel updated and advised of company and departmental incidences/occurrences.
  • Maintains storage of media reviewed for investigative results and photographical.
  • Acts as a liaison person with internal departments as well as external state
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition to the other duties described herein, each Team Member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations.

  • Attend required training sessions offered by the Company.
  • Obtain and retain required license(s).
  • Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
  • Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the Team Member’s department.

  • Have knowledge of the Property’s programs to address problem gaming.
  • Report any acts of wrongdoing of which the Team Member may have knowledge.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above
  • Minimum three (3) years surveillance experience or related field required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years in supervisory capacity/ leadership role required.
  • Must possess intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), commercial database systems, and internet research skills.
  • Previous casino surveillance experience is highly preferred.
  • Must possess excellent report writing skills and verbal communication skills.
  • Certified Surveillance Professionals (CSP) certification preferred.
  • Ability to hear and speak to communicate on two-way radio.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Work environment may consist of a dark area viewing video monitors for entire shift.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Virginia Racing Commission License

Valid Driver’s License with a minimum of three (3) years driving experience.
