Job Description: We are seeking a Medical Assistant to become a part of our team! You will perform routine administrative and clinical assignments to keep the medical facility running smoothly. Responsibilities:Handle all administrative duties in a timely mannerPerform routine clinical tasks to support medical staffCommunicate with insurance companies for proper billing proceduresEscort patients to exam rooms ​Qualifications:Strong organizational skillsAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environment The starting pay is $12.00 at least until the end of the probationary period. The position is for full time, 40 hours a week, Monday – Friday from 8 am to 5 pm with 1-hour lunch, our clinics are not open on the weekends. This should be an extremely busy clinic with no down time, we see patients daily. This clinic has 3 Podiatrist we request that the applicants wear scrubs to the interview to be ready to do a follow-up interviews with the doctors. New employees are hired with the understanding that the first ninety (90) days of employment will serve as a trial or probationary period. During that time, a new employee will have an opportunity to demonstrate his/her ability to perform the assigned work and fit into the work team. Benefits, vacation, and sick days are not applicable to the probationary period, some benefits are negotiable depending on doctor’s approval and the applicant’s experience. POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: In a health care setting perform the duties as a receptionist with a warm outgoing personality. Have the ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with persons of all backgrounds. Provide professional telephone skills and etiquette. Other duties include: · Ability to work well under pressure · Ability to work accurately and efficiently · Have computer knowledge. Will use software such as PrognoCIS, Bullet Proof FTP, ADP Time Keeper, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word · Knowledge of patient billing procedures · Respect and maintain privacy and dignity of clinic patients; assure patient confidentiality at all times. · Provide efficient and professional telephone services; transfer calls according to established protocols. · Register patients according to Baker Foot Solutions protocols. · Assist patients in accurately completing appropriate forms, and document all information according to protocols. · Schedule appointments for patients according to established procedures. · Collect and post fees according to protocols; prepare and balance daily financial registers and submit all required billing forms to Podiatry Practice Helpers (PPH). · Maintain forms and office supplies required for front desk activities. · Secure the building at the close of each working day; turn off or unplug appliances and machines according to agency protocols and lock all entrances. · Assure the readiness of the reception area for each working day; open the building at the designated time and have all front desk activities fully operational at the start of business hours. · Participate in staff and educational meetings. · Perform other duties as assigned POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school diploma License/Certifications/Registrations: Not necessary but advantageous Experience: Ability to function in a busy clinic environment with multiple tasks shifting and evolving priorities DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Duty 1: Appointments and Patient (customer) Service Makes appointments and reservations for podiatrists/patients in accordance with established schedules. Receives incoming telephone calls to determine importance of all calls and dispenses them by furnishing the desired information or by referring the calls to the appropriate individual or activity. Furnish information over the telephone to professional staff within the clinics, medical facilities (i.e. surgical appointments) and/or associated vendors (i.e. insurance companies), referring to specific cases, or researching information available in the records maintained within the clinics. Schedule all forms of Podiatry appointments for Podiatrist using required protocols. Performs computer data entry in association with assigned duty. Duty 2: Medical Folders Ensures accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and internal consistency of the electronic medical records (EMR) and if required medical folders. · Must have knowledge of the medical terminology, accepted medical abbreviations their meaning and interpretations. · Chart/form requirements include – demographic, socioeconomic, financial and clinical data (prescription entry – enter all medications) · Must be able to establish new electronic medical records and charts if required and associated data with new patients. Performs computer data entry in association with assigned duty. Duty 3: Super Bills Ensures accuracy, timeliness, completeness and internal consistency of super bills and data entry of Superbills in PrognoCIS/Assessment. · Must have knowledge of the medical terminology, some knowledge of medical billing codes and be able to review for errors and incomplete data. · Provide super bill to PPH Billing office in a timely manner · Must be able to work with billing company to resolve issues for the patient, company, billing office and insurance company · Super bills must be filed using company protocols, so that company employees and doctors can obtain information for future reviews and questions Duty 4: Supply Clerk - Under general supervision, performs work in receiving, recording, storing, issuing, and delivering supplies, equipment and other materials. The work is both physical and clerical in nature. Responsibilities involve ensuring/performing routine preventative maintenance on equipment, up-keep and appearance of storage areas. Participate in periodic and perpetual inventory, entering items received and issued, performing other administrative duties as required. At least three sources for best price determination must be accessed before ordering supplies. Any new supply purchases that are used by the doctors must be approved by them. If approved the supply datat should be provided to all clinics · Receives, verifies, stores and issues general or specialized materials and supplies. · Checks quantity and type of incoming material against packing slips, invoices, purchase orders or other documents, evidencing delivery and noting all shortages or damage. · Assists in maintaining records of items delivered and issued through the approved system. · Responsible for the security and storage of material · Responsible for arranging supplies for ease to disperse to patients or clinics. · Responsible for arranging supplies for ease of operation and accessibility. · Advises the supervisor when stock reaches a minimum inventory level. · Provides all invoice/bills to physician to go to the Baker Foot Solutions accounts payable office within 4 business days of receipt. DUTY: 5 Performs other duties as required. Provide doctor/patient services as needed. All members are required to maintain/enhance their computer skills, and doctor/ patient customer support. Monitors and reports all safety issues on equipment, materials and procedures. Cleaning tasks such as scrubbing wiping counters, dust and polish the furniture; remove all trash; vacuum the carpet; wash any uncarpeted floors, replace light bulbs, wash windows must be accomplished when required. SUMMARY OF SKILLS SKILLS: Must possess good verbal and written communication skills, position requires assisting dealing with predominantly elderly patients and also other health care professionals. Must have good organizational skills, to manage a designated caseload and assist in the day-to-day running of the clinics. Must hold a current drivers license and be a car owner, to meet the possible requirements of more than one location. Must be able to interpret implement podiatrist care plans. PHYSICAL/MENTAL ABILITIES: Candidate must be able to work under pressure and respond to change. Good manual dexterity. EXPERIENCE: Experience working with people. Previous experience in a service capacity working with the elderly is advantageous. ATTITUDES: Candidates must have a responsible and caring attitude. Should be able to work as part of a team or independently as required. They should be flexible as changes in working pattern. COMMUNICATION: Work effectively as a member of the multi-professional team. Ensure effective communication of relevant clinical information to patients, podiatrists, and relatives where there may be barriers to understanding. Maintain accurate records of all patient consultations and related work carried out at each clinical session, including computerized data collection. Attend and actively contribute to clinic meetings. To ensure that all information relating to clients and staff gained through employment with the Trust is kept confidential.
