About the Role

As a key member of AESC US LLC, you will play a crucial role in advancing our mission to lead in full-value-chain battery solutions for a sustainable future. Reporting to the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager, you will provide safety engineering technical support for engineering design, construction, and sustainable operations. The ideal candidate will partner with the management on key initiatives and will develop, implement, and manage various projects and programs in support of overall business effectiveness.

Your work within the EHS Team will directly impact our strategic goals and contribute to our position as a global leader in battery technology.

What You Will Do

  • Provide technical environmental, safety, and health support and information to production and corporate personnel.
  • Support Process Safety Management (PSM) Program and owns the execution of high-quality risk assessments and risk management deliverables.
  • Lead/facilitate risk studies including PHA, HazOp/LOPA, HAZID, and other risk assessment methods.
  • Facilitate reliability studies including FTA, PFMEA, DFMEA.
  • Lead design engineering technical deep dives for greenfield and brownfield engineering projects.
  • Drive scoping and implementation of engineering safety/ hazard mitigation design strategies.
  • Lead efforts for modeling scenarios and working with external consultants/partners as needed to conduct modeling such as CFD, FDS, PHAST, Canary, iPRISM, ALOHA, and other risk modeling tools.
  • Lead follow-through reviews/coordination to ensure identified risks and mitigation efforts have been included in engineering design.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and (SAT) Site acceptance testing to ensure manufacturers have incorporated applicable ANSI and OSHA standards into the equipment to ensure equipment is safe for operation.
  • Assist in chemical approval requests and updating HMIS permits accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with Local, State, and Federal health and safety regulations.
  • Support overall EHS site initiatives.

What You Need

  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated success in an engineering discipline, showcasing a track record of achieving key objectives and driving impactful results.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting safety, health and environment operations in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and state safety standards.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with staff in all departments.
  • Experience working and leading a team across cultural and discipline boundaries.
  • Familiarity with: Life Safety Design, Fire Protection Engineering, and Process Controls.
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute to the development and execution of key initiatives, demonstrating an innovative mindset and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience or willingness to work in a global context, with an understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with operating in diverse international markets.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet changing business needs and priorities.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, SharePoint, Project).
  • Proficiency with conferencing system (Microsoft Teams).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Inventor.
  • Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards.
  • Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards.

What is “Nice to Have”?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Knowledge of battery manufacturing, EV manufacturing, or refinery operations
  • Proficiency in additional languages beyond English is advantageous.
  • Cross-cultural experience.
  • Manufacturing environment experience.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic. The individual must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees, management, customers and suppliers.
