Job Description

Rich Ice Cream is seeking a Food Safety Operations Team Lead/Equipment Operator to join our team in West Palm Beach, Florida. The right candidate will be responsible for the daily tear down, cleaning, and sanitation of food processing equipment and machinery in preparation for the next day's production.

PLEASE NOTE - Must have flexible schedule (7-day schedule with 2 rotating days off, 40 hours, 5pm - 2am)
Essential Functions:
1. Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the equipment used in the manufacturing of products to prevent product contamination.
2. Safely handle, store, and utilize cleaning chemicals, ensuring they are used in appropriate quantities and stored securely.
3. Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
4. Test the chemical strength of cleaners and sanitizers to verify compliance with SSOP’s.
5. Add specified amounts of chemicals to equipment at required times to maintain solution levels and concentrations.
6. Check condition of valves and pumps according to the SSOP.
7. Observe machine Clean in Place (CIP) operations, gauges, or thermometers, and adjust controls to maintain specified conditions.
8. Set controls to regulate temperature and length of cycles, and start conveyors, pumps, agitators, and machines.
9. Adjust, clean, and lubricate mechanical parts of machines, using hand tools and/or grease guns.
10. Record gauge readings, materials used, processing times, or test results in production logs.
11. Examine and inspect machines, and report detected malfunctions to the Sanitation Manager.
12. Follow procedures and work instructions set forth through SSOP's and the Master Sanitation schedule.
13. Breakdown, set-up, C.I.P., C.O.P., and sanitize production equipment.
14. Clean, sanitize and set up all tanks that have been emptied that day or will be used the following day.
15. Maintain chemical and PPE storage areas in a clean and sanitary fashion.
16. Adhere to all company safety standards, as well as governmental safety guidelines and protocols.
17. Maintain accurate records of cleaning schedules and checklists.
18. Participate in departmental training, including but not limited to online training and in-person training.
19. Adhere to all company safety standards, as well as governmental safety guidelines and protocols.
20. Follow good housekeeping and personal hygiene practices.
21. General understanding and awareness of SDS for all chemicals used.
22. Take measures to prevent damage when cleaning equipment, including electrical wiring and control panels.

Minimum Qualifications: Must have leadership skills and the ability to work independently, act decisively, exhibit excellent organizational capabilities, and maintain a high level of attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Experience: Prefer 1 year experience in the following knowledge and skills areas:
• Production and Processing – Knowledgeable in machinery commonly found in food manufacturing settings.
• Operations Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a wash program is working properly.
• Operation and Control - Controlling operations of equipment or systems.

Education: High school degree or GED preferred. The ability to communicate in English, Spanish, and Creole a plus.


Working Conditions: Full-Time position requiring work on the production floor. Candidate must be able to:
• Work evenings, nights, and weekends (7-day schedule with 2 rotating days off, 40 hours, 5pm - 2am)
• Lift 50-pounds unassisted, and greater than 50-pounds with assistance.
• Kneel, squat, climb ladders, reach overhead, and push/pull materials.
• Stand, walk, and perform laborious work for extended periods of time.
• Work in wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather related).
• Work from a ladder and/or platform.
