Project Development Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Development Specialist will create, build, and maintain strategic business relationships by sponsoring interaction (internally and externally) to secure Energy Services projects with a focus on the Commissioning, Automation, System Integration and Retro-commissioning fields. This role involves, but is not limited to, generating project opportunities, and facilitating the proposal process for clients including proposal writing, contract negotiations, and presentations.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Target building owners, construction managers, architects, engineers, and existing clients to sell company products and services through, but not limited to, Commissioning, Automation, System Integration and Retro-Commissioning Projects
- Prospect target clients by developing call plans, securing appointments and performing project development activities such as regular face-to-face meetings to secure orders for products and services offered
- Determine and assess a client's needs in coordination with internal business associates, provide solutions, negotiate deals, close sales and maintain client interests through and beyond project completion
- Develop an understanding of a customer's organization, identify key decision makers and pinpoint sponsor(s); understand existing customer vendor relationships and political climate
- Craft benefit statements in response to customer questions and objections
- Maintain relationships and favorable contacts with current and potential customers to pursue any additional sales opportunities
- Maintain on-going relationships with clients to anticipate and resolve potential problems
- Participate in site visits
- Travel to target client sites and existing client sites for meetings, site visits, etc.
SALES RESPONSIBILITIES:
Developing and procuring projects that contribute to gross profit goals of the Energy Services department. Contribution to be established and placed in writing. Expected 33% closing ratio on prospects that have been developed and presented. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a minimum of $5,000,000 in revenue annually.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma is required; College Degree is preferred
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working with and developing building automation systems
- Experience selling automation/commissioning projects is not required but preferred
- HVAC system knowledge is not required but preferred
- Any general sales experience is preferred
- Tridium N4 Certification is not required but preferred
- Driver's license, reliable transportation and willingness to travel is required

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires regular travel by car to perform the required functions. Travel by airplane may be occasionally required.
