Job Description

RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is an engineering service provider dedicated to delivering our clients with timely engineering support and expertise. We are seeking an experienced candidate to become an integral part of our engineering team. The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will be located at our Eden Prairie, MN engineering headquarters.

Electrical Engineer

This individual would work with our electrical and product line teams on design, test and integration of electrical/electronic components, sub-systems and systems for our construction products. This development effort may include requirements development, test plan development, test execution, integration design, issue resolution, coordination with suppliers, and much more.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding hardware, software and system failure modes, developing test plans, executing validation on open loop, closed loop Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), analyzing bench and field data for system troubleshooting and supporting efforts to improve team efficiencies through automation and other process initiatives.
  • Assist in electronic component failure mode analysis
  • Project schedule coordination with the team, Test Plan Creation, Test Plan Execution, Test Results and report documentation
  • Develop and validate control system strategies and functionality.
  • Test and verify components and software strategy operation on benches, in test cells, and on vehicles.
  • Create full electrical schematics for mobile equipment.
  • Optimize electrical component selection to achieve cost targets and machine performance.
  • Design display and control panels for off-highway equipment
  • Design and layout complete machine electrical system.
  • Work with suppliers and manufacturing to provide the specifications for production launch.
  • Work closely with vendors to optimize component selection
  • Field data and diagnostic monitoring.

Requirements

  • BSEE, Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering Technology or BS Engineering with related electrical experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude demonstrated through work experience or hobbies
  • Excellent communication both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and commitments
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment

Desired Attributes

  • Knowledge of electrical components such as batteries, starters, alternators, rocker switches, relays, solenoids, sensors, actuators, and connectors.
  • Experience performing environmental verification testing and resolving issues.
  • Experience performing EMC testing and issue resolution.
  • Knowledge of electrical wire harness circuits and routing.
  • Experience writing functional, performance, and durability requirements.
  • Experience working with suppliers in the application of electrical components.
  • Experience in 3-D Modeling Software
  • Familiarity with operating Construction, Forestry, or Ag off-road equipment.
