The Maintenance Utilities Technician directly reports to the Maintenance Coordinator.
Job Responsibilities:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Utilities Technician with exceptional mechanical abilities to lead the maintenance and operations of separators, boilers, and wastewater treatment plants. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical engineering, and in-depth knowledge of separation systems, boiler operations, and wastewater treatment processes.
As a Utilities Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe functioning of these crucial utilities, complying with regulations, and supervising a team of technicians.
Job Duties:
- Manage Mechanical Utilities: Oversee the maintenance, operation, and optimization of separators, boilers, and wastewater treatment, ensuring they function efficiently and reliably.
- Boiler Operations: Supervise boiler operations, including monitoring performance, maintaining appropriate pressure and temperature levels, and implementing safety measures.
- Wastewater Treatment Plant Oversight: Lead the daily activities of wastewater treatment plants, ensuring compliance with treatment protocols, maintaining equipment, and monitoring process performance.
- Separation Systems: Ensure the proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of separation systems to meet required standards and industry best practices.
- Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for all mechanical utilities to minimize downtime, extend equipment life, and improve overall efficiency.
- Safety and Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards across all utility operations.
- Mechanical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical issues related to separators, boilers, and treatment plant equipment in a timely and effective manner.
- Team Management: Lead a team of technicians providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure a skilled and motivated workforce.
- Budgeting and Resource Management: Develop and manage budgets for maintenance activities, equipment upgrades, and projects related to mechanical utilities.
- Vendor and Supplier Coordination: Collaborate with the Procurement Coordinator to ensure that vendors and suppliers are procuring necessary equipment, spare parts, and necessary specialized services.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and regulatory compliance. Generate regular reports for management and regulatory agencies.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred or equivalent years of work experience in related field. Relevant certifications and licenses may also be considered.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance and operations, with a focus on separators, boilers, and wastewater treatment systems.
- Knowledge: Thorough understanding of mechanical principles, separation processes, boiler operations, and wastewater treatment technologies. Familiarity with relevant regulations and environmental standards is essential.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, foster a positive work culture, and encourage collaboration among staff members.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Time Management: Effective organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
