Automation Engineer

Position Overview

We’re looking for an Automation Engineer with good soft skills and has experience with one or more of the following: systems analysis, requirements for project implementations, development, system administration, DevOps and delivery/deployment of complex computer/network systems.

Essential Job Functions

• Design, develop, and implement automation scripts and tools to streamline network operations.
• Experience deploying servers, network devices and building scripts/apps using own or open-source libraries
• Maintain an understanding of long-term company strategy and ensures that designs will enable FiberLight to meet the changing industry/competitive demands
• Collaborate with network engineers to identify processes and tasks that can be automated
• Identify key engagement and solution risks and define mitigation strategies
• Implement and recommend viable architectural approaches that support long term maintainability, extensibility, and inter-operability of enterprise applications
• Maintain and optimize existing network automation solutions
• Build and test code to validate functionality against requirement
• Document automation processes and provide detailed configuration and troubleshooting support.
• Experience in JavaScript, security and performance issues with browsers helpful
• Experience and Proficiency with one of the following: Javascript, Python, bash scripting, or Java
• Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with customers, vendors, peers and other employees
• Participate in project retrospectives and contribute to continuous improvement of the software development life cycle

Requirements

• Knowledge and experience working with RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge and experience working with JSON
• Experience in JavaScript, security and performance issues with browsers helpful
• Experience and Proficiency with one of these: Javascript, Python, bash scripting, or Java
• Knowledge of basic networking concepts
• Strong communication skills
• Real-world experience providing technical leadership on network implementation projects
• Knowledge and application of object-oriented design principles
• A good understanding of IT environments including networking, server technologies, databases, security and performance
• Agile methodology and technical lead experience would be advantageous
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle

Preferred:

• Experience working with Cisco, Juniper and Ciena
• Proficiency in T-SQL and SQL Server with some basic DBA skills

• Must be able to lift 0-25 pounds.
