Serendipity Center, a private therapeutic school, provides specialized education and treatment to children and adolescents who lack the skills, confidence, and/or support to be successful learners. Annually Serendipity serves a variety of students, aged 6 to 21, and their families.

What makes us different? Being a private non-profit, all the support and resources are right here on campus, in addition to having small class sizes, Teachers are provided with an in- classroom Program Assistant, and 1-2 additional Instructional Assistants minimum. Outside of the classroom a team of Behavioral Interventionists, Clinical Case Managers, SLP's, SPED Coordinators, MTSS Supervisors, an Art Therapist, Transition Coordinator, Therapeutic Adaptive Recreation Teacher, and a Therapeutic Garden Educator all add to our rich program.

SUMMARY

The Payroll & Benefits Administrator is responsible for payroll and benefits administration. Responsible for having overall working knowledge of all human resource functions. Promotes and maintains Serendipity's mission, values and culture. Provides exceptional communication and service to employees and works in collaboration with other agency departments.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains knowledge of and identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance; completes all documentation and record keeping maintaining compliance.
  • Responsible for timely, accurate, and compliant processing of the agency's semi-monthly payroll. Audit and process payroll documents, working with third party payroll processing company.
  • Works collaboratively with Serendipity's accounting team to improve processes and ensure internal controls and documentation standards are followed.
  • Maintains and audits Time and Attendance data as well as PTO/SL records.
  • Assists employees in accessing online tools including timeworks, employee self-service portal, and EAP
  • Meets with staff to respond to inquiries regarding payroll and benefits related issues, including workers comp and LOA.
  • Primarily responsible for Administration of Serendipity's Workers Compensation program including investigating accidents; prepares reports for insurance carrier; collaborates with injured and physician for return to work.
  • Keeps physical and computer records of benefits plans participation such as insurance and pension plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.
  • Researches and analyzes current trends and best practices in the field of Human Resources and their application within the organization.
  • Works with HR Onsite to plan and conducts new employee orientations to foster positive onboarding experience.
  • Works collaboratively with Serendipity's HR onsite Generalist in all processes of employee onboarding and offboarding.
  • Provides data and statistics to management, payroll and other authorized personnel regarding employee information.
  • Manages and administers the employee benefits program for employees, inducts new employees to the benefits program operates as a source for general benefits information to ensure effective benefits services.
  • Records employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, performance reviews or evaluations, and termination date and reason.
  • Work with HR team to create, revise and monitor job descriptions for all new and existing positions.
  • Monitors employment practices to ensure organizational compliance with stated non-discrimination policy.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists when possible with other HR duties including internal investigations, interviews, and employee onboarding
  • Assist in reviewing and updating relevant policies and procedures.
  • Provides employment verification and processes related written inquiries.
  • Collaborates with attorney and outside consultants providing advice, counsel and services
  • Researches and recommends reasonable accommodation when appropriate.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities.


QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Education/experience: Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Computer Skills: HRIS, Word-processing, Spreadsheet
  • Physical Demands: The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus. Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

WORK ENVIRONMENT General office conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to assault by a student. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, but occasionally may be moderate.
