Lead Product Manager, Government Assistance Data

For People is a team of skilled technologists improving government digital services for disadvantaged and vulnerable populations. We embed directly in government agencies to modernize software, systems, and platforms so that they better serve people.

Your Impact
As a Lead Product Manager at For People, you will play a pivotal role in one of For People’s upcoming new engagements with the Administration for Children and Families. You will be improving a key data portal that is instrumental in enhancing how disadvantaged and vulnerable populations are served by providing policymakers with the high-quality data needed to make informed decisions and improve the overall impact of a $16 billion nationwide family assistance program. You will bridge the gap between complex policy requirements and user-centric digital solutions, transforming how data is reported, analyzed, and utilized to support disadvantaged and vulnerable populations. In this role, you will not just be improving a system; you will be transforming the way that government services are provided to over 1 million families across the nation, making a tangible impact on public policy and the lives of countless individuals.

Please note that this role is not an immediate hire and would be expected to start in early June, concurrent with our project start date.

This position's published base salary range is between $110,000 and $140,000 annually, plus generous benefits (e.g., For People pays 100% of Gold-tier employee health insurance premiums) and annual company profit sharing.

Your Opportunities
On this project, you will be leading product management functions for a team improving a government data portal, working alongside other For People engineers, designers, and researchers to iterate on the portal. As the Lead Product Manager, you will: 

• Define and articulate the product vision and strategy for the data portal, aligning with both the government agency's mission and users' needs.
• Engage with key stakeholders, including government officials, program grantees, federal staff, and end-users, to gather requirements, understand needs, and communicate product features.
• Lead cross-functional product teams, facilitating collaborative work environments.
• Prioritize product features and backlog items based on user research, stakeholder input, strategic value, and technical feasibility.
• Support the agile development process across scrum teams.
• Define and track key performance indicators and success metrics for the product.

You Bring

• 6+ years of relevant experience in product management, particularly for large-scale public-facing websites or services
• Proficiency in overseeing the development and optimization of data ingestion and pipeline processes, including knowledge of how data systems inform public policy and program decisions
• Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and manage cross-functional teams.
• Strong strategic planning and analysis skills, with the ability to develop comprehensive product strategies and roadmaps that align with organizational goals.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience managing expectations and building consensus among diverse groups.
• Solid understanding of web technologies, software development life cycles, and current industry trends. Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams and understand the technical aspects of product development.
