Job Description

The College of Our Lady of the Elms (Elms College), located in Chicopee, MA invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Psychology, specializing in Clinical or Counseling Psychology. This is a full-time tenure track, faculty position in the Social Sciences division of the School of Arts, Sciences and Professional Programs. This position will teach a combination of core courses required for the Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and elective courses in the chosen candidate’s specialty area, for both the traditional on-campus program and the online bachelor’s completion program.

The faculty member is responsible for actively participating in all aspects of community (teaching, scholarship and service) in alignment with the faculty handbook and assists in the governance and organization of the program, including academic planning, curriculum development and review, student academic advising and program enhancement.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:
  • Teaches four (4) courses per semester across the Psychology
  • Instructs in both the on-campus and online
  • Contributes to teaching the core courses required for the Psychology major.
  • Teaches elective courses in area(s) of specialization.
  • Academic advising of Psychology
  • Participates actively in Psychology and Social Science committees, programs, admissions events, and
  • Partners in review of curriculum, syllabi, and program
  • Engages actively in committee work in the governance of the
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of experiential learning opportunities.
  • Adheres to College and system policies and procedures as indicated in the faculty handbook, college policies, and in other regulatory-applicable documents.
  • Demonstrates commitment to recruiting, supporting, and empowering a diverse student body.
  • Contributes to the evaluation of student academic achievement and other evaluative processes of the
  • Assists the Director of Psychology with administrative tasks as needed and
  • Upholds, promotes and demonstrates behaviors consistent with the mission and core values of the College (Faith, Community, Justice, and Excellence).

QUALIFICATIONS

Earned doctorate from an accredited program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology required. Ability to teach courses on the biological bases of psychology a plus. Demonstrated teaching excellence at the college/university level and experience in both in-person and web-based course delivery and instructional technology required.

Minimum of three (3) years of applied psychology experience within area of expertise, with strong experience in supporting diverse populations. Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work flexibly within a high-paced working environment.
