Job Description
The Enterprise Technology Officer (ETO) plays a critical role in providing strategic leadership and direction for the organization’s technology functions. This position is responsible for aligning technology solutions with business objectives, ensuring efficient operations, and driving innovation across all departments. The ETO provides leadership, guidance, and expertise in leveraging technology to enhance productivity, streamline processes, and serve internal and external customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Reports to the Chief Financial Officer and oversees the planning and development of integrated IT strategies, plans, solutions, and budgets that support the League’s mission & strategy.
  • Strategic Direction:
    • Implements a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
    • Collaborates with senior leadership to prioritize technology investments and initiatives.
    • Owns and drives FLC’s technology governance structure which supports internal business partners as well as provides 3rd party provider oversight.
    • Implementation and oversight of FLC’s data strategy in partnership with internal business owners.
  • Leadership:
    • Develops and maintains an appropriate organizational structure capable of supporting the information needs of the organization.
    • Cultivates strategic partnerships with external vendors, consultants, and technology providers to augment internal capabilities and expertise and minimize risk.
  • Innovation:
    • Fosters a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by promoting the adoption of new technologies and digital solutions.
    • Drives digital transformation initiatives to modernize business processes and enhance the customer experience.
    • Champion the use of data analytics, AI, and machine learning to derive actionable insights and drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Architecture:
    • Develops and maintains League systems architecture, defining standards and protocols for data exchange, communications, software, and interconnection of information systems.
  • Compliance:
    • Manages and maintains the technology-related compliance standards of the organization.
    • Develops and enforces policy and procedures to ensure the protection of League IT assets and the integrity, security and privacy of information entrusted to or maintained by the League.
  • Budget:
    • Oversees the annual operating and capital budgets for the information and technology systems operations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of business principles and techniques of administration, organization, and management to include an in-depth understanding of the key business issues that exists in the information technology industry.
  • Proven skills in negotiating with vendors, contractor and others.
  • Proven skills with managing large third-party service providers.
  • Proven skills in budget preparation.
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role overseeing enterprise technology operations and strategy.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, systems architecture, and software development methodologies.
  • Proven management and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with internal personnel, vendors and customers.
  • Translate technical language to lay audiences.
  • Link and apply complex technologies to business strategies.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field. A Master’s degree in Science, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field, or other evidence of substantial business knowledge, is desirable. At least 15 years of progressive experience in managing functions and departments dealing with information handling, work-flow and information systems. Three or more years of direct management of an IT operation in a business setting. Experience should also include substantial exposure to both in-house and shared or outsourced systems, multiple hardware platforms, and integrated information and communications systems. Experience in the insurance industry would be helpful, but not necessary.
