Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Network Operations Center Support Engineers oversee the configuration, installation, and monitoring of all critical elements of Ainsworth’s server-based gaming and progressive systems. As such, they will be skilled with advanced knowledge in the configuration of hardware and software for servers as well as network and storage solutions. The NOC Support Engineers engage in proactive system audits and maintenance, work regularly with others, and must be able to effectively communicate and troubleshoot all issues that may arise. The role requires advanced systems engineering skills to diagnose and resolve infrastructure/end user related anomalies.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assemble server and progressive hardware, including but not limited to installation of memory, CPU, hard drives, etc...
  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows Server environment.
  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Microsoft SQL database.
  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of network architecture, including all switches and firewalls.
  • Verifies production installation & configuration parameters to ensure that all team members understand the installation, configuration, and support processes in conformance with the site specifications.
  • Assist remotely and onsite as needed with new installations and upgrades.
  • Responsibilities include working with customers, team members, and other technical stakeholders to identify, analyze, and document defects, field concerns, performance errors, and inconsistencies reported from the field.
  • Reproduce field issues in test and lab environment as validation checkpoints, identify root causes, and workarounds for support.
  • Describe technical issues verbally and in written format.
  • Assist in developing new documentation and maintaining existing documentation related to processes, procedures, and policies; Help to ensure existing documentation is current and followed; May be required to provide training for new and existing staff as new documentation and processes are introduced.
  • Help with the setup, testing and deployment of new technology solutions.
  • Identifies and proposes support and installation process improvement initiatives for improving execution speed and quality for the distribution of server in both virtual and physical environments.
  • Responsible for maintaining case documentation and working directly with customers to correct problems that cause casino downtime.
  • Provides on-call 24/7 support when designated as the on-call representative.
  • Provides support to System Engineers on assigned tasks and mentorship/training of new associates.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Advanced Windows server administration.
    1. Active Directory
    2. Server operating systems
    3. Performance monitoring
    4. Scripting/Automation
    5. Windows deployment
  • Advanced knowledge of virtualization technologies (ex. Hyper-V).
  • Advanced Networking knowledge. Including Layer 2 routing, VLANs, and firewall configurations.
  • Intermediate Microsoft SQL knowledge.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in TCP/IP networking configurations.
  • Basic understanding of PowerShell syntax, variables, data types, operators, and expressions.
  • Basic understanding of cloud-based solutions, including Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment with limited supervision.
  • Advanced troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and understand wiring schematics, diagrams, and service manuals.
  • Ability to prioritize, be proactive, handle multiple responsibilities, and work under pressure.
  • Ability to be flexible to a changing environment, acknowledging urgency when necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Procedural and technical writing.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Network Operation & Security, Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent credentials in server or network engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years related work experience
  • Experience in the gaming industry is a plus.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Nevada Gaming license as well as other licenses throughout the United States and Canada, as required.
