Job Description

Through its merger with Oil Search, Santos has acquired and assumed operatorship over a world-class portfolio of oil leases on the Alaskan North Slope, USA. Our focus in Alaska is advancement of our Pikka Phase 1 project, which includes a single drill site, an oil processing facility, and other infrastructure to support production of 80,000 barrels of oil per day. Pikka has been identified as being among the top quartile of oil and gas development projects for greenhouse gas emissions performance. Pikka is poised to play an important role in the energy transition and is aligned with our company goal of managing climate change risk. The Pikka Unit is one of the largest conventional oil discoveries made in the United States in the last 30 years, and the Pikka Phase 1 Project is the most significant development on Alaska's North Slope in more than 20 years. The permitted Pikka development project includes two additional drill sites. The Alaska assets also include discoveries made from both the Mitquq and Stirrup exploration wells drilled in 2020. These opportunities combine to offer a clear path to long-term growth in Alaska.

As part of a highly functional IT team the position is primarily responsible for overseeing the Alaska business unit's (BU) IT Infrastructure, Telecom and End User Computing systems and teams. The position will work closely with the Alaska BU, as well as collaborate with the Corporate office to ensure consistency in corporate standards are delivered as required.

The IS Operations Manager role is responsible for evolving and delivering the operational infrastructure technology landscape and associated end user services. This includes all regional operational services within the metropolitan area, field sites and cloud infrastructure. It encompasses end user devices, server and network infrastructure, field communications, infrastructure applications, hosted services and associated best practice Service Delivery processes.

IT Operations - Alaska
- Establishes effective operations, governance and management of the services within their portfolio alongside frequent, transparent reporting of service delivery.
- Proactively recommends improvements, with a focus on simplifying and standardised ways of operating in alignment with the IS company strategy
- Oversee technology interfaces between IT/OT and Production Operations
- Maintains accurate forecasts and proactively manages budgets
- Partner with peers across Santos IT globally to identify and address company wide IT-related issues and opportunities
- Ensures the regional IS Infrastructure is maintained effectively, whether on Santos premise or in co-lo data center. This includes server, network, end user and field telecommunications
- Manages and ensure delivery of End User Computer services via internal staff and third party delivery
- Ensure successful change management procedures are followed for all IT Operations related activities, local & remote
- Maintain & test Business Continuity Plans for IT Operations, developing additional where needed
- Ensure corporate standards and best practices are followed
- Work alongside Cyber Security to ensure any concerns in IT Operations are addressed
- Establish & maintain relationships with 3rd party support providers for effective support of the Alaska BU
- Ensure adequate SLA metrics are identified and met for 3rd party contracts (ie. ISP, Cellular)
- Maintain clear lines of communication with IT leadership for issues within IT Operations

Team Development
- Identify areas for development of team members
- Work with team to develop SMART KPI's and perform regular & annual reviews
- Lead and encourage integration efforts between the local & broader Santos IT Operations teams where it can appropriately benefit the Alaska BU

Development Project Integrations
- Manage the integration between Telecom project activities and IT Ops O&M
- Responsible for technology interfaces with IT/OT for all development projects
- Prepare for and appropriately receive permanent IT/Telecom infrastructure from development projects
- Understand the needs & plan staffing for the O&M team to adequately support all Development Projects on both a short & long term basis


Formal Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or other relevant system administration certification. For the right candidate, the equivalent practical experience would be considered.


Skills / Technical Competencies

Essential:
- Technology project management experience
Highly Regarded:
- Experience within an Incident Management Team
- Knowledge of PURDUE model for ICS Security

Experience

Essential:
- At least 7 years of experience in position with direct responsibility of client/customer facing environments
- At least 2 years successfully managing and developing (a) growing team(s)
Highly Regarded:
- Proven collaboration skills working with various levels of an organization
- Previous experience working in the Oil & Gas Environment
