Job Description
Duties of the Job -
- Perform millwright work consistent with MWS best practices (including Precision Installation)
- Repair, maintain and install mill machinery and related equipment, internal combustion engines such as gasoline, LP engines, etc.
- Weld metal components together to fabricate or repair, such as machine parts, motors, generators, etc. and perform related tasks as required.
- Assemble, install, and repair sheet metal as required.
- Set up and operate machining tools and performs machine shop duties as required.
- Perform general housekeeping duties and other duties as assigned by supervision.
On-The-Job Requirements -
- Must participate in related instruction and/or training as required.
- Must lift 50-100 lbs. regularly, e.g., chainblocks, pumps, motors, structural steel, etc.
- Must do considerable amount of bending, stooping, reaching, turning, and twisting.
- Must climb and work in high places, e.g., from 8'-60' elevated lifts, ladders, silos, etc.
- Must work safely around moving machinery.
- Must work in confined places, e.g., inside dryers, boilers, stock tanks, etc.
- Must work with hazardous materials, e.g., corrosive acids, resins, gases, etc.
- Must work in extremely hot areas.
- Must wear protective equipment and clothing when required.
- Must operate and use power equipment, e.g., saws, drills, planers, lathes, shears, etc.
- Must read blueprints and schematic diagrams.
- Must drive.
- Must have a telephone and live within a reasonable commuting distance of the mill.
- Must obtain structural welding certification within 6 months of start date and maintain certification.
- Expected to respond to call-ins, work shift work, overtime, Sundays, and holidays as required.
Qualifications
Qualifications -
- Must have completed an Indentured Millwright Apprenticeship program or equivalent.
- Must not be allergic to chemicals or materials used in a mill environment, i.e., corrosive acids, chemicals, resins, gases, etc.
- Must have flexibility, reach, and body height consistent with job responsibilities.
- Must possess ambulatory capabilities to move freely about the mill in carrying out responsibilities.
- Must have a valid Wisconsin driver's license.
