Position Summary: Join our dynamic team as a Quality Engineer (QE), where you'll collaborate across departments to develop new products, ensuring they meet customer and IATF 16949 requirements. Your expertise will be crucial in overseeing quality aspects of PPAP, prototypes, and ongoing product development.


Required Skills/Experience:
  • Post-secondary graduate with a degree/diploma in Quality Engineering or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing, specializing in welding and assembly processes
  • Proficiency in computer skills and CAD
  • Previous experience implementing IATF 16949 procedures, APQP, PPAP submissions, GD&T, Flow Diagrams, FMEA’s, Control Plans, Statistics, Fixture Development, and working independently with tooling subcontractors
  • Ability to use basic measurement tools and conduct root cause analysis using various problem-solving techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of customer and ISO9001:2015/IATF16949:2016 requirements
  • Familiarity with B.I.W. part-to-part build-up process, destruct testing, measurement, metrology methods, and CMM reporting structures
  • Basic stamping knowledge regarding B.I.W. components
  • Experience managing suppliers and related issues
  • Proficiency in Quality systems development, QSB+, BIQS systems
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, uphold confidentiality, and work effectively in a team environment
  • Willingness to travel and work overtime on short notice
Duties:
  • Champion quality-related issues within your scope of responsibility
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of customer product and engineering specifications
  • Lead program launch activities from a quality perspective
  • Coordinate and communicate tasks/responsibilities to production personnel regarding quality issues
  • Train and mentor quality and production personnel as required
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on the development of new and existing components
  • Implement new procedures and processes during prototype stages in compliance with customer requirements
  • Plan, prepare, and implement new program fixture build cost, timing, and quality
  • Actively participate in the development and maintenance of PFMEA’s
  • Evaluate and address dimensional issues using problem-solving techniques, CAD, statistics, and GD&T
  • Liaise between customers, Q.A., Engineering, Manufacturing, and subcontractors
  • Prepare and implement PPAP submissions on new products and engineering changes
  • Maintain confidentiality while managing customer-sensitive documents and data
  • Develop and maintain Q.A. Control Plan Package documentation and procedures
  • Assist in IATF 16949 and ISO14000 implementation and compliance
  • Conduct statistical studies and report data as required
  • Comply with relevant Quality and Environmental programs
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and a clean work area
Equipment and/or Product Familiarity:
  • Equipment: PC, telephone, photocopier, fax, various fixtures, gauges, and measuring instruments
  • Software: Microsoft Office, Windows, databases, spreadsheets, word processing, AutoCAD, Mechanical Desktop, etc.
