The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking a Human Resources Manager who will oversee employee relations, training and professional development, and retention.  The HR Manager will lead and support practices that establish and reinforce SDL values:  Respect, Collaboration, Empower, Deliver. Responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching for employee relations situations that foster a respectful, collaborative and accountable workplace culture
  • Develop, manage, and identify training and professional development programs that ensure individual and program success
  • Formalize SDL’s leadership development practices to build and grow current and future leaders
  • Identify strategies and take actions that address skill gaps and/or future skills needed
  • Lead SDL’s Employee Review process
  • Train and coach managers, supervisors, and others involved in employee training and professional development efforts
  • Supervise assigned employees which includes selection, mentoring, training, evaluating, rewarding, balancing workload, team building and other leadership functions
  • Lead or support programs that support overall employee well-being and job satisfaction
Required Qualifications:
  • Must be a US citizen, lawful permanent resident of the US, or other US person
  • BS in Human Resources or related field
  • At least 10 years of progressive HR generalist experience
  • Expert knowledge of employee relations and performance management, federal and state employment laws, training and professional development
  • Proven ability to comprehend, interpret, and administer applicable laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines
  • Proven history of designing and implementing effective training and professional development programs
  • Working knowledge of staff recognition and retention
  • Strong interpersonal skills that contribute to positive relationships within, and outside, the organization
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to handle complex and sensitive situations with an ability to empathize while maintaining professional objectivity
  • Experience conducting corporate internal investigations including intake, investigation, resolution and summary reports as well as strong written, verbal and listening skills across all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to make decisions and support course of action
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in Human Resources
  • Human Resources certification (i.e., SHRM, World at Work)
