Job Duties:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced MRP Planner and Inventory Control Lead who will ensure management and on time delivery of production materials in order to guarantee the execution of the production schedule. They will maintain optimal inventory levels of materials, set inventory minimums, maximums, and safety stocks, and manage obsolete materials, while aligning with the business to execute the plan. The candidate will partner with production, engineering, sales, service, and accounting to ensure sufficient stock is maintained to meet demand for current instruments as well as next generation instrument models. This role will also be the administrator for inventory in Sage, our accounting system, and be responsible for inventory cost forecasting.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as demonstrate sound leadership and decision-making ability. The candidate will also be able to identify gaps in inventory processes and proactively recommend changes to the same. The position reports to the Operations Manager and will provide opportunities for career advancement as the company grows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop manufacturing work orders in accordance with planned order requirements.
  • Manage purchasing requisitions via HubSpot Ticket, ensuring the proper approvals have been received prior to placing orders with vendors.
  • Utilize Sage Accounting System to ensure purchase order fulfillment.
  • Manage functional supplier relationship.
  • Manage all aspects of inventory replenishment:
    • Maintain and improve inventory operating procedures.
    • Assist Procurement with vendor SLA’s and KPI’s, as needed.
    • Perform audits of inventory systems, proactively identifying issues
    • Set and maintain safety stocks and reorder quantities based on analysis.
    • Create purchase orders for replenishment items.
    • Improve stockroom management systems & logistics.
    • Create and maintain a rigorous RMA system to ensure timely return of defective parts to suppliers for credit or replacement.
  • Provide daily direction to Shipping and Receiving personnel for receiving and inventory matters.
  • Own cycle counting and quarterly physical count.
  • Convert engineering Bill of Materials to Production Bill of Materials and maintain Sage BOM’s via routine BOM Audits and strong cross-functional relationships with engineering counterparts.
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation.
  • Keep management apprised of potential schedule problems by tracking, reviewing and evaluating plans, schedules and or budget/forecasts for inaccuracies or inconsistencies.
  • Assess, manage, and mitigate risks.
  • Monitor forecast and upcoming levels of demand.
  • Implement inventory strategies to maintain security of supply and optimum value.
  • Implement change and develop new processes to better inventory management.
  • Analyze market and delivery trends to develop procurement technologies and processes that support those trends.
  • Provide monthly reporting to management on inventory turns and controls, and risks that could lead to an inability to meet demand.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in inventory and MRP planning
  • A seasoned professional with experience in owning overall planning/inventory procedures and processes
  • Experience with cycle counting and physical count ownership
  • BS degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration or equivalent experience, preferred but not necessary
  • Experience utilizing Sage Accounting System, preferred but not necessary
  • Strong organizational and office technology skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and objectives
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience in manufacturing, components, and PCB assemblies a plus
  • Strong Leadership capabilities
