Job Description
Salary: $65,000+

Bria Hammel Interiors (BHI) along with Brooke and Lou (B&L) is seeking an Accounting & Finance Manager to join our team. This position is responsible for all accounting and finance functions as well as various HR, IT, and operational processes. This position is 4 days a week position (80% full-time equivalent) working Monday-Thursday.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ACCOUNTING TEAM LEADERSHIP – 25% of Role

  • Review all BHI design time billings and product billings prepared by accounting staff. Ensure timely collection of AR.
  • Provide direction on AP and lead the annual 1099 process.
  • Review sales and use tax returns and perform periodic reviews to assess requirements for registration in new states.
  • Provide direction and help with problem-solving to work through issues.

 

MONTH-END CLOSE – 25% of Role

  • Review all journal entries and month-end tasks prepared by accounting staff.
  • Preparation and posting of complex and confidential journal entries.
  • Review account reconciliations prepared by accounting staff and reconcile accounts owned by this position.
  • Perform financial close including review of financial results for accuracy and completion of system close checklists.
  • Analyze results against the budget and review notable variances with the leadership team.

 

FINANCE – 25% of Role

  • Prepare annual budget and contribute to strategic planning to achieve budget goals.
  • Weekly cash position analysis and short-term planning. Long-term strategic planning including managing short-term investments with banking partners.
  • Coordinate business insurance contract renewals and update insurance company with business changes.
  • Coordinate income tax returns and applicable payments with CPA firm.
  • Assist with other accounting and finance duties as they arise including, but not limited to routine reporting preparation and ad hoc analysis. Use data to guide company decision-making.

 

OTHER – 25% of Role

  • IT: Own NetSuite administrator tasks and partner with software consultants as needed for issue resolution. Negotiate software contracts.
  • IT: Main point of contact with IT Managed Services partner owning services package, Microsoft licensing and product review, contractor performance, billing, and technology inventory review.
  • Operations: Negotiate contracts and leases for office/warehouse space and various other vendors including B&L freight logistics vendor.
  • Operations: Attend weekly BHI, B&L, and Leadership team meetings and assist as needed with broader team initiatives (e.g., annual warehouse sales, and periodic inventory counts).
  • HR: Lead annual merit and bonus process.
  • HR: Lead annual medical plan renewal, worker’s compensation audit, and handbook updates.
  • HR: Assist with job postings, recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new employees.

Qualifications

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting (preferred). Strong fundamental accounting skills are required.
  • NetSuite or another similar ERP system experience (preferred).
  • Six+ years of experience in an accounting team with increasing responsibility. Experience in project accounting and/or retail preferred.
  • Enjoys problem-solving and researching issues.
  • Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) experience is a plus.
  • Intermediate Excel skillset required. High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, and Word
