TechFlow has an immediate opportunity for a remote CAD Designer Intern to support our Energy and Mobility Solutions Team. The CAD Designer Intern will work directly with engineering staff to support the development of electrical systems CAD drawings of energy solutions for multiple clients, including DoD customers. Work will include supporting the CAD design and integration of energy systems including energy storage, photovoltaic arrays, and microgrids. Gain valuable experience while building your engineering design skills!

This internship will have a 3-month duration with potential for extension into a part-time role, depending on volume of work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collects and analyzes data to support engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Supports the CAD design team in capturing engineering design aspects from conceptual design to final working drawings
  • Supports the development and implementation of CAD standards, templates, and best practices to continually improve work efficiency and product quality
  • Performs Quality Checks on drawings
  • Correctly capture all design comments/feedback to evolve drawings to completion with minimal iterations.
  • Performs work within budget and schedule constraints

Requirements

  • Rising Junior or Senior majoring in an engineering-related CAD design program
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office (specifically Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Basic proficiency with AutoCAD
  • General Electrical Systems knowledge
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks within quality, labor, and schedule requirements
  • Ability to effectively communicate and engage team members in a professional environment
  • Very good organization skills with great attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to develop Electrical Single-Line drawings with components commonly found on utility power distribution system design drawings. (e.g: Transformers, Switchboards, Panelboards, Breakers, Metering Systems, Renewable Energy / DC Systems, etc.)
  • Electrical Conductor and Conduit Sizing knowledge
  • Three Phase Power Calculations knowledge
  • Extensive AutoCAD and some 3-D modeling experience (i.e. Revit, SketchUp)
