The Position:

The Senior Accountant's responsibilities for the corporate division include maintaining the general ledger and project subledgers, preparing and reviewing account reconciliations, performing variance analysis, preparing financial reports, and assisting with audit and tax preparations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Initiate, manage, and conduct the full-scale month-end close process for the corporate units (journal entries, accruals, general ledger review, bank reconciliations, etc.).
  • Review and post journal entries of staff accountants to ensure accuracy, while ensuring sufficient documentation is provided.
  • Analize cash liquidity and funding needs.
  • Prepare financial statements, including consolidating financials for management and external investors.
  • Manage intercompany transactions for all entities within the division.
  • Perform variance analyses and prepare account reconciliations, including assisting in the automation of the overall account reconciliation process.
  • Prepare the corporate division's overhead budget, including balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows.
  • Coordinate more complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance teams or with other departments.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor staff accountant on the corporate accounting team.
  • Document and monitor internal processes and controls.
  • Work closely with members of the corporate operations and finance teams.
  • Perform other projects, tasks, and duties as assigned and directed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with at least 3-5 year of related experience.
  • Public and/or corporate accounting experience or exposure to real estate industry preferred.
  • Proficiency with an ERP accounting environment, NewStar and Vena experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
  • Working knowledge of basic/complex accounting.
  • Exposure to intercompany accounting and complex tax structuring is a plus.
