About the Role

As a key member of AESC US LLC, you will play a crucial role in advancing our mission to lead in full-value-chain battery solutions for a sustainable future. You will work to improve the overall skill level of the Quality department in the Battery Plant where you will plan, direct, coordinate, and control quality activities in assigned work area to achieve established goals.

Your work within the Quality Team will directly impact our strategic goals and contribute to our position as a global leader in battery technology.

What You Will Do

  • Develop programs and initiate activities to ensure the maintenance of an acceptable quality management system
  • Monitor quality performance and resolve issues
  • Recommend improvements to enhance departmental operation and prevent customer quality problems
  • Contribute to building brand value and achieving enduring profitable growth
  • Defines and establishes market-focused quality targets for all assigned products or processing plans. Support quality target development by generating and analyzing similar part history information (such as customer comments, warranty claim data, field reports and from innovative resources, when required)
  • Able to perform standard quality engineering functions such as product compliance and capability, Customer 8D submittal, and problem-solving fundamentals. Should be able to understand the part layout and inspection, APQP activities, Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA) understanding and control plan completion. Additionally assist in internal audits, and layered process audits (LPAs)
  • Confirm adequate completion of quality assurance plan (including, but not limited to supplier quality system improvement, initial sample inspection report, design and business reviews and vehicle processing center installation trials, and ability to submit PPAP packages prior to product launch. Support engineering and vehicle processors in developing installation quality and inspection standards
  • Identify product or vehicle processing quality issues in the market, (including, but not limited to monthly warranty review and other established and innovative means, when necessary)
  • Investigate and determine the need and responsibility for corrective action, initiate corrective action request, develop and issue appropriate field communication and confirm effective resolution
  • Conduct job functions with minimal guidance and follow-up
  • Lead and delegate various responsibilities, as required, to project core team members or vehicle processor
  • Outline and report on completion status, open issues, action plans, problem analysis (including departmental or core team process issues) and make recommendations to the core team, manager, quality assurance and core team management, if required, at planned milestones
  • Consult and support other engineers in the above
  • Develop and publish updates to AESC quality standards for customers, including quality system, quality system audit and product approval requirements
  • Develop supplier base quality system audit program
  • Support vehicle processors in developing quality standards and audit programs
  • Develop, update and maintain quality assurance departmental work instructions

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related Engineering discipline (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering).
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products
  • Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD and Inventor
  • Experience performing internal or external audits
  • Experience working and leading a team across cultural and discipline boundaries
  • Ability to apply math skills to solve real-world problems
  • At least two years of related experience at the professional level
  • Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards
  • Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards

What is “Nice to Have”?

  • Six Sigma Certification
  • VDA 6.3 experience
  • Auditor certification for IATF 16949
  • Prior co-op Level Engineering experience working in manufacturing
  • Automotive OEM or Tier 1 Supplier
  • Must be certified by ASQ or IRCA as a Quality Auditor or Engineer
  • Background in supporting a highly technical automotive-related manufacturing environment is highly desired
  • Knowledge of battery manufacturing, EV manufacturing, or refinery operations
  • Proficiency in additional languages beyond English is advantageous
  • Cross-cultural experience
  • Manufacturing environment experience
  • Start-up experience

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic. The individual must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees, management, customers and suppliers.
