Are you a forward-thinking Design Engineer ready to dive into the innovative world of composite structures, merging advanced design with complex geometries and trapped features? Our client, a distinguished name in the field of Smart Tooling and Hawthorn Composites, is on the lookout for someone like you. This role is your chance to contribute to custom solutions that redefine manufacturing processes for composite structures, combining your expertise in design and your flair for creative problem-solving.

Your Role Awaits:

  • Collaborate closely with a project engineer to forge the project design strategy, carry out the primary design work, oversee sub-designers as needed, and ensure the flawless execution of design from start to finish.
  • Utilize your proficiency in CATIA V5 for design and surfacing tasks, backed by the ability to perform advanced mechanical engineering calculations to fulfill project design objectives.
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in line with ASME Y14.5 2009 standards to maintain precision and quality.
  • Take part in design reviews alongside customers, suppliers, and other departments to verify design integrity and drawing accuracy. This may include visits to customer and supplier sites to ensure alignment and resolve any technical issues.
  • Handle multiple projects at varying stages of completion, demonstrating exceptional multitasking abilities.

What Makes You the Ideal Candidate:

  • U.S. Citizenship, with a clean drug screen and favorable background check.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with hands-on experience in 3D CAD software.
  • Familiarity with email, calendar software like Outlook, and Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Project.
  • Minimal travel requirements (0%-5%).

You'll Stand Out If You Have:

  • Strong capabilities in computer design.
  • Training in GD&T, with basic knowledge of CATIA V5 FEA (training available if needed).
  • A systematic approach to solving technical challenges.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms.
  • Proficiency in negotiation and conflict resolution, capable of working autonomously or with minimal supervision.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

  • The role involves regular communication, the use of computers for design work, and occasionally lifting objects up to 50 pounds with assistive devices for heavier items.
  • You'll work in an environment where you may encounter moving mechanical parts, fumes, sparks, and heat, with a generally low to moderate noise level.
